The guy lies through his teeth and the mainstream media refuse to hold him accountable. At the same time many of those who have been duped are the ones actually defending this whole shemozzle.
It's funny how all that sounds appealing on paper but but there's no actual hook. Why do you explore? Why do you upgrade stuff? Why do you learn new languages? It sounds like a "collect 'm up" and I never understood the appeal of that.
For me, it is to get warp cells and press forward. Every upgrade, every investment is to get warp cells and press forward to the center. After all, that is goal of the game, and for me just roaming aimlessly for sake of roaming would be boring.
After all, whats the point of hanging too much on the same system if everything is procedurally generated. There is no 100% completing regarding exploring and you'll just get bored of same biome.
And yes, there is some backstory happening while going forward. Not a lot, but some.
My experience is a bit different as I'm actually exploring a lot without being too pressed to go towards the center of the galaxy and after 30+ hours I'm still thoroughly enjoying it. So far the variety of environments has been great for me, having visited desert worlds, grass worlds, rocky worlds, sea worlds, snowy worlds, radiated worlds. I have not seen a proper ice world yet, or acidic worlds , though. I guess when I get to visit those kind of planets several times each that's when I'll get bored of it, but by then Mankind Divided will be ready waiting for me to launch it
I can't believe these fuckers even showed rivers and high mountains in those promo videos, none of which are seemingly present in this final product. So many lies

Initially, the system proved fantastically difficult to control. It was generating planetary terrain that was wild, alien-seeming, and also impossible to traverse. If Murray pushed the system in the other direction, the terrain became dull and repetitive. There were also specific natural features, such as rivers, that did not lend themselves easily to equations. To make a river in a conventional game, an artist creates a mountain, places a digital drop of water on it, and maps the water’s trajectory downward. “That is the correct way,” Murray told me. But the process involves laborious computation, and requires that the topography be known in advance. Because of No Man’s Sky’s algorithmic structure—with every pixel rendered on the fly—the topography would not be known until the moment of encounter. Theoretically, the game could quickly render a sample of the terrain before deciding that a particular pixel belonged to a river, but then it would also have to render a sample of the terrain surrounding that sample, and so on. “What would end up happening is what we call an intractable problem to which there is only a brute-force solution,” Murray said. “There’s no way to know without calculating everything.” After much trial and error, he devised a mathematical sleight of hand to resolve the problem. Otherwise, the computer would have become mired in building an entire world merely to determine the existence of a drop of water.
So many "lies"
So many bullshit claims from all fans, anti-fans and Murray , all mixed together in mess thx to jurnous :-/
And there were people defending hello games' random shit generating algorithm. Like it was some kind of general relativity formula. Goddamn console people are so eager to suck a loser's dick right away even though the people they are defending haven't done shit.
I sitll envy you guys, I can't laugh watching these videos just like our fellow humpers from Germoney can't laugh with the Hitler ones
Its not like we cant laugh about Hitler, its just we understand what he is really saying which makes it not so funny at all. It also depends on the meme.
Apparently the latest experimental branch update got rid of a pixel filter that made the game look like it was being upscaled from a lower resolution, should look a lot better now. https://twitter.com/deadendthrills
^ I guess they are too busy patching , instead of furteh fueling the overblown drama

Have Sean and his fellow partners in crime been silent as a crypt following the game's release?
some guy contacted Hello Games Support and apparently got an answer:
Quote:
A patch for both PC and PS4 will be released this week. These will fix the most urgent and critical issues for all our players. Then next week another patch for PS4 and PC will be released which will help to improve the experience further for players. We will keep you updated.

But then, we'd be doing Sean's work for him - so I urge modders to step away from the code. Leave this festering piece of procedural sludge to die quietly.
