I don't like the micropauses when grabbing bonuses or whatever the fuck those are...
Blame Nintendo for starting this trend.. I think one of the Zelda's introduced it.. At the time i thought the console was just too shitty to handle the graphics in combat smoothly, but i later understood it was intended and many people prefered it ("retards" is the correct term i believe).
All games that has this "feature" should come with the option to turn it off. I can see how some people enjoy having a pause when they hit or grab something because they are really slow in the head, but they need to consider that not everyone who plays games is a retard.

ugh. remember seeing this years ago and thinking itd be cool. I get that theyre improving the game to be more than a boss runner but jesus christ this takes the cake.

I have literally no idea what you were expecting? A deep, RPG game with freeroaming and skilled combat with multiple styles?
This looks exactly like what they said it would be, and it looks fantastic. Gameplay looks hard, frustrating and absolutely joyful - like gaming used to be before it was taken over by the openworld, Dark Souls, Roguealike crowd.
I must say tho.. Cuphead look like Mickey Mouse without the head...

Just the usual fatigue from a hyped game which was announced long ago and went trough a lot of delays, also you see similar comments in pretty much every thread here so it's not really something out of the ordinary.
I'd understand it if I were to see gameplay like contra, but all I see is a sprite shooting diagonally up while walking left and right to dodge incoming projectiles.
In contra you had much more movement, be it vertically, laying down or timing. Here it's looks like "Hold A, dodge left right, win"
The "simplistic" gameplay can be fun if the game is challenging enough so that precision, reflexes and skill become essential to win. Otherwise it will be a bore fest. Still looks absolutely gorgeous, that can't be denied.

Kids today can't even appreciate a simple Jump 'n Run style of game.

I believe it has something to do with the fact that the game was initially meant to be a boss rush-type of thing, but quite recently (last year if I recall correctly) platforming was added as well, which is probably the reason why that part looks like it's the most uninspired one so to speak.
Still looks fun to me, I'm not really sure it will have the ability to keep the entertainment alive for many hours, but that glorious art-style alone might be a good incentive.
