Yup noticed it last night that it was a best seller... Guess gamers really deserve this treatment.

Steam Top Sellers always show what the most hyped thing is, not necessarily what you need to know or buy. Who's surprised, it ranks among GTA V Shark Cards, No Man's Sky, ARK's main game, despite it's horrible performance issues or any COD on release.

And as long as people keep buying in big numbers they will do that. It doesn't matter how much someone likes the game, no one should support that.
That's why we get unfinished games, premiums, seasons passes for every possible game and all cancer DLC's while the base game is just an empty shell.
I cant believe there is a high number of people still defending this game, like thats perfectly normal to release a DLC for Early Access game. Yeah sure. Brain damage.

You guys are very bitter. If you ask me, the dev had two choices:
- let the company die under the lawsuit and leave ARK the way it is now
- release a paid DLC that was completed beforehand to let them continue working on the base-game
No-one is forcing you to buy the DLC and if I had to chose between seeing the developer fold or them selling DLC to survive, it's a very easy decision. Especially since the lawsuit seemed a little OTT - 40 mil for an employee working on another game while under employment and trying to pouch employees? 1 mil would seem a lot in this case.
I mean, when you think about it. How many copies will ARK have sold at full price? It can't be more than a few million, surely? So if they made $20 per copy, that's all gone because of that lawsuit and that's not counting wages and development costs. I'm surprised such a lawsuit even leaves the dev standing!

That lawsuit seemed pretty weird to me too but I don't know what exactly was involved or how they handled it but I do know that a tweet originally listed the sum that was demanded at pretty ridiculous 600 or so million dollars so getting it down to 40 for a settlement was likely a huge gain for the developers even if they probably still lost a lot of what the game has generated in revenue.

@konkol84
Judging by the latest youtube videos the game still runs like shit dropping to 40 fps at 1080P "epic"(that doesn't look epic at all) settings in forest areas (on gtx 1080ti)
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

It's not 1:1 comparable but from my understanding the XB1oX has Polaris GPU almost identical to the 480 or 580 but instead of 2304 cores (36/40?) it has the full 2560 (40/40) though it's a bit above the 1060 but still below the 1070 although again the performance isn't directly comparable between the PC and console hardware and there's more to it than just the GPU.
It probably isn't doing TrueSky and some of the other tech they put in the game though if they do indeed use native 1080p instead of dynamic resolution or upscaling.

So the games that get financed by the dev team are turned into paid dlc?

And that isn't even the worst part of it, despite...everything it will still be able to catapult itself on top of the Steam charts breaking records, with the second place probably reserved for the DLC as a thank you message for the customer-friendly policy and fair treatment over the smooth quick Early Access phase. Some people will write negative manifestoreviews, whilst playing the game 100 hours a week, sending the right message
