What about AKG K915? Local store has them in stock and the Sennheiser needs to be ordered. |
Well, they have other wireless headphones but those are out of your range. They seem to keep products that work/sell well.
The AKG look good too, I've had a pair of AKG headphones before, their pads are like pillows.

Wired will always sound better than wireless, and you'll get more quality in the headphone since they don't have to add in the cost of a wireless receiver.
A lot of "audiophile" grade headphones, at least from Sennheiser, come with like 3 meter long cables.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-558-Headphones/dp/B004FEEY9A
So that'd be around your budget with a 3m long cord. Since it's detachable you might be able to find a cord that's longer? Only problem is Senn usually has a locking feature on their cables so a normal one may or may not work unless you sanded down the plastic nub enough to fit in?
I've used these headphones before and they're AMAZING. Cable is short but you can replace them with a longer one. If I remember right, the Phillips just uses a standard 3.5mm jack with no extra frazzle dazzle to the connection so just taking the cable out and replacing it with a longer one should work? So these headphones + the mediabridge 25 foot extension should work just fine? That's be 7.62 meters of cable length for ya.
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHP9500-Precision-Over-ear-Headphones/dp/B00ENMK1DW
Also, don't forget you can also just buy an extension cord.
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Plated-Stereo-Extension/dp/B00ESM3JUY/
If you've never heard of them and have access to their stuff, Cable Matters makes really high quality stuff for cheap. I use them and Mediabridge for any cables I need.
https://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-3-5mm-Extension-Cable-Feet/dp/B00M8CQ7JQ
That's from Mediabridge, who I've been buying more from than anything. The quality in their stuff is just absolutely ridiculously awesome.

My Cambridge dt2200 is 15 years old... I love it but would kind like something new for new apartment maybe. I dont like monitor stuff aince flat sound is just no fun. There is a reason I sod my brainwavz hm5 and got koss porta pro which I adore !
Tried creative t20ii in store and it was ok. Nothing mind blowing but sounded rather nice. I dont liked the dated looka of the unit...
Tried ogitech z333 and it was muddy as bottom of a lake. Wtf.
Finay tried logitech z533 and it sounds great! I ike the bass control on the remote and speakers look very nice.
But thats all they had on display in media markt and that is not a way to test speakers anyway... With phone in crowded store.
Z533 was released year ago and reviews are positive. I just dont see many user reviews.
Originally I wanted 2.0 to have as clean desk as possible but there is not much good stuff and everyone recommends fucking lepai and monitors...
Btw. I do have e10k for what its worth!

of course |
wants good sound but is looking at Logitech speakers lol. Complains speakers sound muddy, is using Logitech speakers.
Same price as those shitty 100 dollar logitechs you posted there's stuff out there like this: https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA/
that's significantly better. use a lineout y adapter to go out from the back of your FiiO into some powered bookshelves and you're good to go.
The problem with "monitors" isn't that they're not fun, it's just you're using garbage so you aren't getting any good sound to begin with. Just because it's "flat" doesn't mean they won't have hefty bass to it. You hear what you're supposed to hear. If you want more bass get an equalizer and push the bass up a little.

Active bookshelf speakers are good idea. There is just nowhere to test it.
Any reason for this exact pair? I would prefer black enclousure.
Not every audio equipement have to be a monitor. I tried getting used to analytical brainwavz hm5 and while I liked it, it was too flat. Recently every audio equipement company is putting "monitor" on the box. Like if every customer was a music creator or sound designer, while 0.0000001 of customers have work ike that and use better stuff anyway
No need to state obvious here Spykez. Any other 100bucks recommendations for 2.0 active or 2.1 ? |
We had a long thread over on OCN about a pair of 100 dollar pair of speakers and after 2 weeks it came down to the ones I linked above and these Mackies
https://www.amazon.com/Mackie-CR-CR3-Reference-Multimedia/dp/B00KVEIY4E
The other pair I linked above apparently sounded just enough better that it won the recomendation. The guy bought them and absolutely loves them. A friend of mine has the pair I linked above and he loves them. Another guy I work with bought the Mackies and he said they sound great.
With the price of these Dayton B652 speakers, you could buy a small speaker amp to power them.
https://www.amazon.com/Dayton-Audio-B652-Bookshelf-Speaker/dp/B002RMPHMU
Dayton made quite a name for themselves with these.
The rival of the Daytons are the Micca MB42
https://www.amazon.com/Micca-MB42-Bookshelf-Speakers-Tweeter/dp/B009IUIV4A
Monoprice being monoprice, the two above sparked them to make some of their own cheap bookshelf speakers. The originals I believe are out of production but they have a newer set out.
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Surround-Bookshelf-Speaker-114366/dp/B0197W3NJ6
These are obviously out of your budget but something to consider if you can save up.
https://www.amazon.com/Audioengine-A2-Powered-Speaker-System/dp/B00DQMJE7E
Those are well loved. They're basically mini versions of the Audioengine P4 speakers that I have. I haven't personally heard them but I have heard people say you wouldn't expect the sound that comes out of these to come out of such small speakers.
All things considered, these don't sound terribly bad, there's better options out there for the price but they've been out so long you can usually find them used for 50 bucks which is the only reason I'd recommend them.
https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Al that of course is dependent on you being able to test them out first or somewhere online with a good return policy. Listening to this shit before buying is hard anywhere. I live in Madison which is like, top 5 cities in the US to live in, TONS of tech jobs etc out here, but when it comes to audio, and it having a huge well known university, we're stuck with bullshit Beats, Bose and Skullcandy propaganda. Apparently going to university doesn't improve common fucking sense.
So really, if you see any above that really interest you that you can get, do your research, get a solid opinion and order em.

Edifier as a whole is a brand to watch. They've been around for ages (in China anyway ), but in the last 3-4 years they have brought some outstanding stuff to market, considering their price tags.
And you should be able to find them in Mediamarkt, they've somehow managed to find their way into mainstream shops even though their quality is well above most mainstream products. And most of their speakers are available in multiple colours ("don't like the colour" - uwot? They're pretty neutral..).

That natural wood look is giving me a boner. I kinda wanna try a pair but I don't have use for speakers with an amp built into them.

Thanks guys. I will look through them.
Audioengine looka neat, mackie and micca too.
Edifier have almost too much choice.
I might still consider creative t15 or something because of size and price but I will give it a good read.
@Spykez what is a difference between mackie cr3 and cr4? 3 have good price. I am not sure I like green looks but whole thing looks nice and elegant.
I only want powered stuff to makr it as clutter free as possible.
I see. Its the speaker size. Is 3 enough for my small apartment and desk usage?
Any other powered options?
Also - no monoprice here at all. And audioengine is super overpriced here.

My P4 has 4 inch woofers and I can hear them throughout my entire apartment from my office that's on the opposite side of the apartment. Hell I can hear them through the floor when i go into the basement of the complex when I do laundry lol.
and obviously you can wire in just about any subwoofer so long as it has the inputs.

I haven't found anything on the CR3 or CR4 overheating? Even then how many people is it out of how many they sell? Any powered speaker can overheat. I think read it happened to an audioengine as well when I was looking stuff up.
I found a couple on amazon but they don't state how hot their room is or what the airflow is like.

Possibly true.
My apartment is rather chill and desk is just in a corner of 20m square room. Plenty of breathing room.

I still think the Edifier will be your best choice if you can get passed the wood color.
