This remaster needs a fucking remaster.

I just got into the medical pavilion, and am at the part where the downed bot is blocking the door you need to hack. Constantly crashing over and over at the same spot. And every crash results in game-play settings (notably: game difficulty and custom keybindings) being reset. Also, the game keeps fucking switching to controller prompts despite the fact that I don't have any controllers plugged in.

What a fucking mess. These "Blind Squirrel" cunts that were in charge of porting this really are blind - because they sure as fuck didn't bother playing the release version.

When a game does this, it's usually because you don't exit the game successfully after changing the settings. Change the settings, exit the game, load it again and if it crashes then, it won't lose it settings.

Tried that. It still resets after crash.

I'm at the point now where, because I quick-saved closer to the spot, I can't even load my game anymore. Just crashes on load. I've given up with this piece of shit rush-job for the foreseeable future until they patch it (if ever).

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I've had no issues with this remaster at all. Mouse moves fine in game and in menus, it's got it's DX10 water physics back and it looks a little better. It's pretty much what I was expecting.

Bad reviews on Steam. Game crashes a lot, mouse lag not fixed, no GFX options etc. Looks like a very bad port. Next please ! Rolling Eyes

Come back and ask the same question in the Skyrim topic as that one is only 5 years old. I think the main reason is the lack of backwards compatibility on the PS4 with the huge PS3 library so it's much easier to spruce up an older game a bit for consoles and since the PS4 and Xbox One are basically just bad PCs they feel they might as well make a PC release while they are at it.

I'll stick with the original, it has 3D Vision support too, which looks quite awesome (just tried BS1).

Bioshock was a piss port back when it launched. Not surprised it's "remaster" isn't far from the original.

But honestly, if they didn't release "remastered" version on PC, people would bitch about it.

First time I start the game it crashed, then I restarted and ran it, this time it starts fine ... it set itself at some 2560xsomething resolution on my 1680x1050 monitor Very Happy

How hard is it to set it to the desktop resolution on startup you idiots?

I have to wait for a patch, the mouse control is just borked, at sensitivity 2 it's too slow and at 3 it is a little fast and unwieldy. I will not mess with the ini file just yet, I hope they will fix it. Hmmm, I will also leave a nice review with my experience.

Retards.

The only overall improvement seems to be that it's using some higher quality textures and occasionally also models but it's still using UE2.x and apparently with many of the same unfixed bugs as the original two Bioshock games and they've also tweaked some of the effects toning down reflections and shadows.
(Still 32-bit and with D3D11 now but nothing really added that D3D9 or D3D10 couldn't have handled.)

If the texture and model improvements aren't a big deal you might get a better experience from playing the original release whereas this seems to be a fairly quick update for release on PS4 and XBO with PC thrown in as a free update for existing owners as a bonus but it could really have done with some more work though I guess it would not have been a free update had they done a complete overhaul say to Unreal Engine 4.x

They do seem to be working on a patch so there's hope at least, though it doesn't necessarily mean they are updating the mouse implementation with said update but it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to add in raw input and disable the forced smoothing and acceleration for a dev team with full fucking source code access. You can see there's a newer build in Q&A testing at least so something is being worked on. Smile

Someone tell me if at least they restored the vending machine sounds ("Welcome to the Circus of Value!" etc) in BS2 because from what I have read so far this release should get the Facepalm of the Year award. But if at the very least they fixed that, then they would have gotten at least 1 thing right.

The vending machine sounds are fixed in BS2R according to this
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/52yorv/bioshock_remastered/

(Were they originally bugged or just removed?)
