This looks like a power trip simulator, not an action/stealth game with RPG elements

Is anyone taking these powers seriously? Ragdolling enemies, "linking" them together etc? Some arbitrary magic in this game Laughing

Not a fan of those Emily powers myself. They seem like they're designed more for (easy) combat than stealth. I won't know for sure about how balanced they are until I get to play the game myself. Luckily Corvo's powers appear mostly intact, so I'll probably go with him on my first playthrough.

The new fancy superpowers, brutal Darkness-like moves, and grab 'n execute look definitely overpowered, once again one needs to activate the 'self-gimping' procedure in order to keep things somewhat balanced...the triple-A pill.
I'll try to ignore those goodies for the most part, going for the traditional zerochaos panthering. Then when it's over, I'll do it again causing as much rampage as possible, like a Corvoman/Batemily gone completely mad Laughing Mobster with a Fag

You know, that's how I've always played Dishonored and Deus Ex my first go around (total stealth, non-lethal), and while at the end of the day I do get a nice, warm feeling of accomplishment, another part of me can't help but feel that I've gimped the fun factor for myself by not having experienced 80% of the cool weapons/gadgets/skills made available to me.

So then inevitably I try to play again, this time just wreaking havoc - but now that I know the story/characters/level layout, I get bored quickly and can never bring myself to complete it the second time around.

I'm still torn on where I sit for Dishonored 2. A big part of me just wants to say fuck it, what happens happens (no save scumming as is very necessary with stealth play-throughs).

We'll see... Confused

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I dont think thats the reason you're getting bored. Its because as fun as the powers may look like and feel at first, its just a wildly unbalanced game. You're getting bored because theres no challenge, you're not really doing anything to keep yourself engaged. Just breezing through. The game feels like you have god mode, give all weapons, infinite ammo and infinite mana all at once.

And the entire game uses blink as a crutch for everything, which breaks the game further. You have wall hacks, a gazillion op powers, health stack, mana stack, autoregen health and mana on top of those. And the AI is brain dead.

We'll have to see how they balanced the new game, they said you can play without powers, but if the game is designed a certain way, around the use of those powers, i dont know how satisfying it will be.

Do the powers have a cooldown, or need some kind of energy?
Hopefully it's balanaced so that you can't spam them too much.

But i plan on playing it on a high difficulty anyways. Hopefully the enemies will offer enough of a challenge, that the powers are needed to survive.

First Dishonored became a pushover pretty quickly - and I didn't really care for the artstyle. This looks a bit better - but it still looks like it'll be trivially easy too soon.

Yeah, I'm afraid that's all true.

They can't seem to design games around challenge and investment anymore.

Oh well, never was a huge fan of Dishonored anyway.

That's what happens when you're given the most OP power out of the gate

So far, nothing indicates this will be any different, it just looks like more OP powers on top of the ones we already had

It's also typical of games like this to cater to people who skip through most of what's on offer. Then for those of us who collect everything, do every side quest and so on, we end up with more money than we can spend, more points then we'd ever need to distribute and a hollow sense of accomplishment when it's all finished

Mankind Divided was the same, so for anyone hoping for a challenge, good luck with that. I recall a difficulty mod for the first game though, maybe we'll get lucky early on. But it'll be more than likely that you'll have to restrict yourself artificially for any real challenge.

Totally agree with you. I'm always stuck in the end with shitload of resources, and it's really disappointing I can't use them to buy / do cool shit. Maybe this time instead of playing stealth, I'll just play it as CoD.

I've tried playing stealth games like Rambo - and it's incredibly unsatisfying - and AMAZINGLY easy. Much easier than stealth.

Really? I thought it looks actually worse. Smile

More power, more "dark magic fun" = an even easier way to dismiss enemies, making sure fans are satisfied and feeling important and powerful, while mashing one button on their little couches.

The only thing that makes this appealing for an old, arrogant, pretentious and old-skool Thief fan like me is the fact that this is playable WITHOUT the powers. Well, this and... Stephen Russell's voice, which may be the only chance to hear again that "Garret voice" in a stealth driven game. Crying or Very sad

1on1 fights doesn't seem to offer any challenge at all, no matter the enemy.

Also i hope you can adjust that fucking narrow FOV.

It never did (Dishonored 1) and it never will (D2). Anyone thinking this game will offer any challenge needs to readjust it's expectations.

The only things making this game interesting are the world, the art style, the stealth, Garret and hopefully a story that would keep one at least semi-intrigued during game progression.

Garret? but yeah Dishonored even with "just" the required blink skill isn't that challenging compared to some of the games used for inspiration (Thief.) so I don't see this game being much different though I do hope the AI has been improved, surely the CPU improvements on the XBO and PS4 can be useful for more than hair physics. Garret?

Stephen Russel, the voice of Garret from Thief 1, 2, 3 will impersonate Corvo in Dishonored 2. Smile

The thing is: of course we are just kidding ourselves and create soon-to-be-shattered dreams... There will never be another true Thief game, not even a spiritual successor. Crying or Very sad
