PC only so I'm intrigued. As long as it's not a MOBA.

Crucible's concept sounds like The Hunger Games. Players stuck in an arena, making/breaking alliances and dealing with random threats.

It's a Battle Royale, not only the manga and movie came way before those books/movies (Hunger Games), but there have been some ARMA mods for quite a while using this concept. The guy who made the mods is now working on H1Z1: King of the Hill. I wouldn't mind a AAA quality version of such a game.
The MMO is using a lot of ideas from GW2 but it will probably take them to another level. I'm not surprised tho, like 4 important devs from ArenaNet went to Amazon to work on that MMO.
Overall, I think these are really good news, I'm curious how the twitch integration will be, hopefully is not a drag.

I like the timeline of the MMO, the Sandbox they are going for... but I have no doubt they will ruin it with open-pvp or some other 'hardcore' nonsense because that's what sandbox is for most developers. Which will end up as the usual: unbalanced as a whole.

Breakaway has an alpha going on this weekend. Got an email saying I was accepted and I have to download... The "Twitch Launcher".
Amazon definitely going all-in on twitch.

Played some today, quite a decent 'survival game' experience. Reminded me of Feudal and some others but a much smoother/AAA experience.
Community itself is quite filled with people thinking a bit too highly off themselves. Bitching to everyone that voices some criticism that its just an alpha and how great testers they are and have been for other games. Can't say I've seen that behaviour a lot in the past.
Definitely going to play more of it, gave a better experience than some games already released.

OH NOES PROBLEMATIC
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-12-12-we-talk-to-amazon-about-its-new-world-mmo-and-problematic-associations
Quote: | What I was most worried about was the setting. Indiginous people suffered terribly because of colonialism, and still do, so it's a problematic period to be associated with. | *gasp*
Quote: | "The colonialism stuff: there's no way to tell that story in a good way," Lane told me. "We are not that. This is not in America. We don't have any history from America on the island. There's nothing there that would tie us to America."
Apart from the name, I should point out.
"It's an island in the middle of the Atlantic," Lane went on. "It's something that could be what people thought was Atlantis or Terra Australis Incognita at the time. The people who live here came here. This island was uninhabited. Everyone who came here, came here either out of greed or desire to control Azoth [a source of magic], and that's the story we're telling."
People are already on the island, then, but according to Lane, are not native. | Phew, social injustice averted but that was close.

Like the SJW care about indigenous people. They all cry how the blacks are always oppressed and victims while there are black people in every stage of politics and companies but the Indians still live in special reserves. It's perhaps better to live in a reserve than in a Boston ghetto but still those SJW hypocrites should get rid the world off their stupidness and greediness gaining fame by populism.

We all originate from Africa, so why doesn't this argument apply for the Americas, or any other region? Relativism at its finest

What I see as problematic is that they ended the Alpha about a year ago (even though that was never the plan) to make huge changes. Saying they'd come back with a new alpha... and now I read they are coming back with a closed beta for 1 month after all those changes... wut?
