I don't think he was sarcastic...he actually meant it is well optimized. |
Ha, I wasn't. I was actually giving the game credit. Makes a nice change.

yes omg, those two scared me so much. they pulled of the hannibal lecter fear factor with them perfectly.
In other news, i'm in Igor region atm, and the demo is nowhere on steam for me. when I click on the steam install link prudislav posted, i get the demo preload
and it's tiny 108mb
seems like I'm months late for the demo

Haha yeah don't worry, it's just the demo that was available for a "limited" time (don't ask me why they're doing that - since it's absolutely nonsensical to me ). You didn't miss much really, as it was fairly short and 'lite', so to speak.
Anyway, good thing we'll have the full demo as Bob posted

Is this another walking simulator like the first one or have they added any real gameplay?

Walking Simulator
really?
Look up Clock Tower Dude this a Clock Tower like Survival Horror game like it or not but the genre actually doesn't revolve around combat (this sub genre is more about stealth instead), i know people usually don't like to feel weak and vulnerable but that's what the clock tower like survival horror genre is all about.

True they had way more adventure elements but that obviously isn't very popular these days, clock tower is still closer to this then the alone in the dark/resident evil subgenre, anything involving more action then that are action games with horror elements to me though.

Here's Why Outlast 2 Was Refused Classification In Australia
Quote: | Earlier today we reported that Outlast 2 had been refused classification by Australia's censors, but the precise reasoning why wasn't known. It was a surprise, given that the game's publishers went to the effort of putting the demo through the classification process - which resulted in it receiving an R18+ rating.
But Outlast 2 will not be rated in Australia. The board's decision, which have been provided to Kotaku Australia, was based on multiple scenes where - even though it is implied that the main character, Blake, is hallucinating - sexual violence is implied.
One particular scene shows a female creature thrusting against the main character while his wife is tied up in chains:
Spoiler: | In one cut-scene in the game ... a female creature prepares Blake for a ritual. She says, "I want to see your true face. Your seed will burn this world." Shortly afterwards, he objects to having psycho-active dust blown into his face, yelling, "Nope! Nope!" before he stumbles into a forest clearing.
His vision blurring, he witnesses what appears to a ritualistic orgy. His wife, Lynn, calls out for his help, saying, "It hurts! Oh god!," as she hangs from chains on a raised platform at the front of the clearing. Humanoid creatures, their skin grey, spattered with blood and scarred, implicity have sex as others pray, or chant, or gesticulate.
One creature has another bent over a rock, thrusting as they implicitly have rear-entry sex, another sits astride the pelvic region of a creature prone on the ground, moving their hips rhythmically as they too implicitly have sex. Two other pairs of creatures in the clearing are also implicitly having sex.
As Blake yells for the creatures to "Get away from her!" a female creature, her greyish breasts bared, pushes him onto his back, holds his arms to the ground and repeatedly thrusts her crotch against him. As Blake protests, saying "No! Stop that!" the creature thrusts again, before placing its face over his midsection and then sitting up and wiping its mouth.
Although much of the contact between the creature and Blake is obscurred, by it taking place below screen, the sexualised surroundings and aggressive behaviour of the creature suggest that it is an assault which is sexual in nature. The Board is of the opinion that this, combined with Blake's objections and distress, constitutes a depiction of implied sexual violence.
In the Board's opinion, the above example constitutes a depiction of implied sexual violence and therefore cannot be accommodated within the R18+ classification category and the game is therefore Refused Classification. |

Outlast 2 won't be banned in Australia after all
Quote: | Last week we reported that Outlast 2 would be banned from sale in Australia, as the country's ratings board deemed the game's "implied sexual violence" too upsetting for even its most mature rating, R18+.
But now, upon further analysis, the Australian Classification Board has changed its mind and the game is listed with an R18+ rating.
In the new listing Outlast 2 rates as "high impact" (the most mature level) for sex, violence and "themes". It's only "strong impact" for language and nudity, however. And drug use is merely rated as a "moderate impact".
Developer Red Barrels issued a statement to Press Start clarifying that the game was not altered in any way to achieve this rating.
"Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released 26th April 2017. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide," the studio said. |

And now people on the Steam community forums are complaining because they took out that scene, though from what they said it was never meant to be in the game at all but who knows.

id call bullshit. Youre putting yoru game in for censorship, and you 'accidentally' leave - AS PART OF THE GAME - a sequence you know would definitely have a bearing on the rating?
a sequence, i might add, that sounds like a significant amount of effort went in to (animating, dialog recording, planning/choreography, etc)
nah i dont believe it. Im pretty sure they decided the scene was easy enough to remove without impacting the overall story, that they just stripped it out of all versions so that they wouldnt have a problem selling to what is clearly a significant market (where they can easily inflate the price of the game for ever more profitz!!!11$$$)
