Evidently Ubisoft didn't have much interest in it (they have released something like 10 Assassin Creed's in the time this game has been in development or should I say NOT in development), so yes, if the news are true, then it's been rescued.

Bayonetta 2 was very good, most Nintendo games are very good.
Kinda sad it's not multiplatform but if it helps making the game even better, why not ?
AFAIK anyway all Ubisoft games eventually came out on other platforms, even Zombi U did...

Beyond Good & Evil Resurfaces in New Ubisoft Trademark Filing

Probably not. Last things we had heard about it were along the lines that Ancel wasn't working on it but could be one day and then we got the Nintendo exclusivity rumor, which could still be true (although probably not).
