Welp, there go my weekend plans. The one release I was excited for all year, and, as per usual, they fuck it up. Why can't I ever have nice things? Crying or Very sad

Maybe a injector can remove the shader. Because fundamentally, I don't think the game looks bad. Just the vaseline. And 30 FPS tied to the game logic and animations

A message to our PC players
10/6/2016

We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are. The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates. We’ll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon. In the meantime, the team welcomes feedback and would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you. We’re actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game’s experience to suit their rig’s performance. It’s been an incredible journey developing Mafia III and we couldn’t be more excited to get the game in your hands and hear what you think!

That can't be for real. Yeah let's remove or not optimize PC features to add them again. That's it guys, we need to release the kraken.

What the fuck? How long has this game been in development? 5 years?

It’s almost like they are trying to say "Hey guys, we didn’t have enough time to make it better for PC since our focus is on console versions, but no worries, we will patch it sooner or later".

Another case where the word "marketing" is translated as "blatantly lying to one's face".

So much bullshit is spewed in the industry nowadays that it takes the interest in new AAA games to a historic low.

so how are they going to fix this if the speed of everything ingame is tied to the framerate? 60 frames at this point would just make everything move faster

Somehow I think all the steam screenshots are from cinematics. No AA vaseline removal here, jaggies are there (and looks better).

It is incredibly surreal when you think about it. 'Solid 30fps for parity treatment', some years ago it would have been a headline from the Onion, but today here we are. Developers say this sort of stuff with a straight face like nothing happened.

Played for about 30 minutes, the game seems good and might be fun, driving and car controls are pretty good actually imo; too bad it looks below average and runs way shittier than gta5

The thing is, as usual, if they wouldve been upfront about it, the drama wouldnt have been as it is now on releaseday... Just be honest FFS. Talk to the community, say that the PC version isnt up to the standards yet and release it a week or two later.

That's it exactly. They knew damned well that the state it was in was unacceptable - but they chose to stay quiet because they knew confirmation of such a thing would lead to an uproar and effect pre-sales.

They're sheisty fucks pure and simple. They didn't "lie", they simply didn't say anything and let the silence lie for them. Modern corps. are always finding ways to tread that razor-wire between outright theft and simply mis/dis/no information.

Those cunts (both 2K and Hangar 13) deserve to burn for pulling shit like this.

As for my part, I'm out $30 until (if ever) they decide to patch it up to an acceptable state. I'm not holding my breath, but a small part of me is a little warm and tingly knowing that at least some real thieves get my money (gray market) instead of the cunts in suits that pulled this whole fiasco. Such is the acceptable risk we all take when ordering through 3rd party channels, I suppose. Honestly, I'm more pissed that I've got nothing to do for the weekend now.
