Didn't bother watching this con. Was already expecting some scripted bedazzlement and a ship sale instead of seeing SQ42 and some other things they had in the works.
Disappointing, guess there is next year.
Same here, and judging from the video, it definitely was the right thing to do. As if we needed an official confirmation to know that the single-player campaign is delayed* indefinitely.

The pop in isn't that bad when you consider games that are nowhere near the scale of this behave in a similiar way (ARMA 3, GTAV, FO4, TW3). I'm not sure what the expectation is here, but this game seems to be handling a lot.
This isn't be pandering to the game/devs, I don't give a fuck either way But I don't understand some of those complaints.
For 120+mil, I agree with almost all his criticism. The video is embarrassing. Another example of a quality "back".
But hey, it's pre-alpha. I'm sure they'll fix it for beta. By gamma radiation, we'll play it all smooth 60 fps.
What they showed was scripted as fuck. A vertical slice if I've ever seen one
They don't have much to actually show I believe... Citizen con sounds about right.
Did they say it wasn't scripted?
They were showcasing the technology.. and if you knew anything about engine technology what they showed was amazing and not only has never been done before, but couldn't be replicated on another engine.

Pretty sure me and the other non-shill backers were expecting an actual game of some sort - not this scripted shite - it makes Ubi's E3 presentations look good.

What other Sci-fi universe can we rip off; let's see... We should have a planet with arachnids like Starship Troopers and we need to be able to jack into the Matrix in order to fight the puppet masters pulling the strings behind what we perceive to be the real universe.
What the Star Citizen universe needs is X-men like superheroes to show up. If you're about to lose a fight they can come out of nowhere and help you.
It also needs galactic amusement park / zoo with weird animals from all over the universe.
It should have a racing league, but I think they've already made lots of racing tracks and a racing sport, so that's good. That was priority 1 to get done before launch.
Then we need to be able to cook and eat food; hunger needs to be in the game to add a Survival element like all of the survival games that is a thing right now.
Farming is possible in this game and I think if I buy this game after release I'll be a farmer working in my space fields while others are flying space ships and doing missions, you know, space stuff. It is between Farm Simulator 2017 and Star Citizen, I haven't quite decided yet.
I think it should be possible to romance NPCs and have kids, and see the kids grow up in the house/apartment you build and decorate for them. Then we can send them to school and they can join pilot training and become a wing-man, that needs to be in the game. That way we can tap into The Sims series and possibly make The Sims in space.
Minecraft is a popular game still, and I think that if we allow players to land on any planet and with the right tools and machinery they can change the landscape and build big complexes underground and build big cities stretching far into the sky. If we can manage to include city management options such as SimCity I think it will be interesting for players to become the Mayor and organize their own cities and hire police and guards and teachers for both players and NPCs moving into their cities.
Players should be able to join the police and military, or become doctors and heal players and NPCs and really have multiple simulator games into one game in order to bring in players from games like Police Quest, SWAT and perhaps from the Emergency games, too.
The most important thing to add before launch is a big sandworm, 100 people should work on the sandworm textures, animations and sounds and how it interacts with the sand and really wows people, because that'll make more people buy the game and it is really a feature that keeps people playing forever, because they can look at the sandworm and say "wow that's a big sandworm" and go like "fuck yeah!" I'm glad I waited an extra year because this sandworm was totally worth it. It is good to see developers prioritizing the most important features first because it shows that they aren't squandering development time and resources on needless fillers before there's even a proper game to play.
Haha, indeed . I appreciate the ambitiousness both in terms of technology and scope, that will never be in doubt, but sometimes one must realize that going back to earth and adjust the perspective-o-meter of his spaceship a bit is required to avoid being left stranded in (no man's) space.
There's a ton of space games made by and for narrow-minded people
Star Citizen is for people who believe there's something beyond the derivative and safe.
That's all fine and dandy, but I'm sure you'll like to play it one day.
I wouldn't want to play one of the most ambitious games after a couple of years in full development. They spent the first few years building the company and the money made the original scope useless.
In that way, I think it's pretty impressive what they've achieved already. Anyone looking at the Gamescom demo and the CitCon planetary demo and thinking "this isn't worth my time" is either a complete moron - or they simply have no interest in genuine evolution.
As I said, there are games like Elite Dangerous and X series for those people.
My personal estimate was always around 7 years - which means I don't expect something of this scale to come out until ~2018 at the earliest.
If they do release it before then, it will be in an unfinished state.
