Tested the steam refund feature today. Took 1.5 hours for the actual game removal, and then around 24 hours for wallet credit to become usable. not bad considering steam support times for other stuff, but still miles behind the automated and instant refunds at origin.
+ steam only offers wallet refunds for certain payment methods, while EA refunded directly to my credit card.

I got 2 of my steam purchases straight into my credit card - which ofc I had used when I bought the games. I did however get the option to select wallet or creditcard.

It's the same as adding these packages manually one by one via the store so in that regard yes, however tool or script assisted functions with Steam including cards, achievements and vpn usage is against the EULA / TOS but so far Valve has not taken any action against it.

With the rules/restrictions surrounding refunds, it should be an easy deal to make an automated system, even a system taking into account people trying to trick it by buying/refunding the same game over and over to extend game time. |
yeah, it should be automated for the games that qualify for the "2hours or 2 weeks" rule, and then for people who go over that, a manual look at the request. That's how it is on origin.

I'm not sure what's more daunting...
Putting your faith in steams support, or putting your faith in steams servers and valves ability to make a system that won't fuck up because they half-assed it.

Agreed.

There's stuff here that could easily be handled by a 'system'; and like you say if there are cases not clear cut, someone could handle those manually. Waiting 5 days for a refund is a joke.

Yeah, but setting categories has the same effect I find annoying, the client jumps to the top of the games list to where the game you just set is now listed... so I have to scroll all the way back to look for the next game. Might be ok for a few games, but I guess I have around 300 to 400 games I would like to play sometime on Steam alone (another 100 on GOG, Origin and uPlay) so that gets annoying really fast...
Your method of just keeping everything installed has been my way of organising games until now, even bought a second 500GB SSD just to have more space for games, but my problem is a severe lack of focus. I will just too easily switch between games, play this then that, something else again and when I get back to the first game I forgot parts of the story or can't remember the control scheme.
I want to try limiting the games I have installed to 2 or 3 and switch games when I'm done with them. I guess a simple task list would do, but I had hoped for some webtool that lets me sort and label the games more easily.

I use categories.
There's a tool out there that can sort games on genre and other things: Depressurizer
Categories I set up:
CO-OP
Finished
MP Games (not playing)
Not interested in
Replayable
VR
Games <- The ones that haven't ended up in one of the above categories.
Have about 4500 games on Steam... so yeah you could make it work if you want to
No need to scroll, just minimize the category. Only one you need open for most of the time is the unsorted one.

I assume there's going to be some kind of Gabeparty near Halloween, or at least that's what they always do
(With the various ghetto markets though almost every week is a party)

Not different to previous years. I suppose there's another one by end November (Autumn sale) which should include a greater variety of titles.
