think im going to give the game a miss until it hits like 75% off or something...

i loved the previous game, and was super hyped about this, but from everything ive seen it looks like theyve moved away from having a carefully crafted story full of wacky characters, locations and an interesting narrative, into a wannabe borderlands, which throws out the story in favour of just loot systems, endless mob combat mini-arenas and dumb side mission quest style bullshittery... which im just not interested in.

i mean hey, if id played this game 10 years ago it totally would have been my thing, but these days... i just value things like story and atmosphere more.

@Ampee

You can disable pretty much all hud elements

@chiv

How do you know it's story will be worse than the first game? I saw some videos and I'd say it's the same SW with added loot system which afaik you don't have to bother yourself with.

If it turns out to be a bad borderlands 2 clone I'll be the first here to bash them kurwas for ruining SW
Very Happy

That's not exactly a HUD element. Thats when enemies drop items/weapons/gems etc. and they are spinning/floating above the ground. That looks dumb.

im just going by what it looks like and how the devs described where their focus was on, and how the story 'works' (basically given out through little quest missions)

i mean if its great, then yay... ill pick it up eventually... but if its just borderlands style meh, i dont know if ill get it at all.

I don't know why anyone would expect good story out of these games, what really matters is the mission design. Are we going to get exciting missions with diverse objectives, or is this fetch quest galore?

I'm not going to compare this to the old one because it is clearly not the same game at all, neither were 2013 one. But in the end SW is just another fast pace arcade shooter like Doom or Painkiller, the only real problem this game can have are the bullet sponge elites that slow the pace at which you kill by too much.

2 things I hated from all the Borderlands were the amount of traveling back and forth, and stupid amount of HP some enemies have. If you don't have up to level gear, you very well could have to empty 2-3mags just to kill one of them, it is not fun for a FPS. At least in Diablo I have multiple buttons to press, FPS is just hold down fire, auto-reload, hold down fire - its boring as fuck.

Imagine fighting Yiazmat from FF12 but you have to input all your attacks...

That's a pretty nice boss fight,men! Very Happy

The boss battle starts at ~ 2 hours 48-49 min

https://www.twitch.tv/alaskansavage/v/94270525

I'm glad they've improved boss fights coz the first game's bosses were kinda bad. Even Hard reset had better bosses.

I haven't seen a confirmation of that but that would be nice, though I thought that was a OS limitation with Microsoft planning support for it with Win10 RS2, well there could be other ways to implement it I suppose. Smile
(Will need a very modern TV as well for proper functionality supporting the bit-depth and color format and stuff I have no clue about but sound like I do. Very Happy )

EDIT: Ah yes Nvidia does have a way come to think of it. Smile

(NV HDR - http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-goes-full-in-with-hdr-support-for-games-and-4k-streaming-for-movies/ )

( http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1288337 Also has other info such as specs for HDR compatibility and that the implementation varies a bit due to fairly loose regulations or some such so yeah varied quality.)

EDIT: And yeah of course it will require a HDR compatible display, meaning a TV since monitors with HDR support aren't coming until next year it seems.
