Nah, you are not. I'm enjoying it despite being an average game in many things.

I'm enjoying it as well. It's nowhere near 1/2 (Tommy Angelo is rolling in his grave), it's broken, unfinished, there's even no fucking animation for honking (but he switches gears!), there's so much lacking yet it's still fun in a 6-7/10 way.

Also the SJW atmosphere, I burst out laughing when the description told about a female car mechanic who's dealt with "misogynistic" men all her life. I understand the N-word and its many variations was common, but it still feels like they try to push racism into your face everywhere so it kinda loses its authenticity sometimes.

I understand nothing in game development but as a pleb it looks to me that they spent tons of money on marketing and, of course, shitloads of money on the soundtrack (which is great, but gets repetitive sometimes at least for me - I hear the same songs mostly and I should be hearing more types of them afaik).

Driving (simulation) is fine, feels like drifting on ice sometimes, but it's cool with all the muscle cars and what not, and the gunplay is really rewarding with the death animations, even if they are repetitive sometimes, it's fun to blast away the brainless lackeys to hell and see them slouching on the environment.

You think they spend a lot on soundtrack? Does it even have the original songs? All I hear are remixed versions.

They sound like the originals to me. Or have people mistaken the later day covers for the originals?

Are you serious? Why would remixed songs make any sense in that era? Laughing

The only remixed song is somewhere towards the end and it's a version of an already existing song from one of the radio stations. It's Bad Moon Rising covered by Mourning Ritual, all the others are originals.

Like this game is about "sense", wasn't Ice Cube doing some commercial singing for Mafia 3?
I'm pretty sure I've heard some classic songs with changed lyrics, can't remember which tho, I haven't been driving too much to remember all the details. Very Happy

I'm not an expert in the era, just that I heard some "remixed" versions. Even if most of the songs are original, I don't think the publisher spent that much on licensing them. Priority was marketing as always... It bugs me to no end that the weapons aren't licensed. I can't believe that crowdfunded indie games have that and a AAA of 50 bucks doesn't...

Where did you hear a remixed song? And please point out to what song you think that was, all I heard were originals from that era, have most of those on vinyls from my father, he was a DJ in a club and had all the music from that era. I listened to those a lot when I was a kid, then went to punk and hardcore.

Another thing I noticed is the stupid ai car movements like just driving in circles and hitting anything in their way, thats just stupid.

I'm pretty sure Presley's "A little less conversation" is a remaster of the song, not original. Other than that I think all of them are the real thing.

damn this game got hammered in the reviews.

it's sad they didn't beta test this enough with target customers. I'm sure if they did, they would get the same criticism the reviews gave.

68 on metacritic is "bombed"? That's pretty much where I'd put it, it's a 7/7+ out of 10 game. It would be an 8+ for me if it weren't for technical issues.

Considering the score range tends to be 6-10, yes.

Finished it. The scene with Donovan at the hearing was hilarious.

I dont get all the complaints.
Looks like people are are forcefully looking for negatives to join the "hate party".

my rig isnt anything special (Win 10, R9 280, i7 2.4ghz, 8gb ram) and if i put reflection on LOW, volumetric light effects on LOW and AA on Low or medium the game looks about the same as if i put those settings on HIGH (besides reflections i couldnt tell the difference) and it runs really smooth on 1080p for me (between 40 and 60 fps) and look really good too. it has some oddities and glitches here and there but all games have them. On the other hand, some light conditions are stunning. the details are great. i just dont get what people are complaining about ugly graphics. it looks better than GTAV or watch dogs in many aspects. definitaly not an ugly game. (unless you put AA on high and get a blurry image. i dont get the point of this AA technique).

In terms of gameplay - it gives the player a nice set of tools to complete missions however they want and most of them are small very open-ended pockets of action\stealth segments. it's a lot like Far cry 3\4 or AC:unity or AC:syndicate, minus some of the sci-fi stuff. those lite missions are fun and allow some player made strategies so i can decide how i wanna play them. just the way i like it.
The stealth and general options you get are basic but nice to be able to chose, the gunplay is fantastic, the death animations are some of the best i've seen with great mix of ragdoll and animation, the AI is OK too...

Yes, most missions repeat, but that's how it is in almost every game in existence. every game makes up a few game mechanics and recycles them. this game isnt different. it's just doing it in a very obvious way.

In any case, i find it a 7.5 game, even though im enjoying it more than a typical 7.5 game so far. it is FAR more complex and refined (gameplay wise) than any other Mafia game only story isnt as tight (because most of the missions i'd consider "side missions" are considered main missions in M3 and stretch the story too much) and because cut scenes aren't integrated into the missions.
The older mafia games were slightly more innovative for their time, and Mafia 3 isnt as innovative in today's standards so it isnt a 8.0 or a 9.0 game, but it's doing what it's doing well and if you dont mind the repetitive nature of the game structure than it's a completely fine game in every aspect. Not the gem we were hoping for, but a nice game in general.

Same here. At first I was almost certain my brand new 1070 was suffering from faulty VRAM or something. Seeing as how it doesn't seem to do it in any other titles though....

After about 30 minutes or so I get all kinds of weirdness at varying intervals - stretched sky-box textures in the distance as it tries to, presumable, load textures in. Some green unloaded hair textures for a split second. Also some colored orbs (blue/red/green), again, for a split second.

Every three hours or so it crashes (legit version) - so I'm leaning towards maybe some sort of VRAM leak? Don't know.

Hope to fuck it isn't my shiny new card.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
