@Lathieza: than explain to me how can simply running an playing sub 20gb game which is on different drive can suddenly trigger popups of "not enough free space" on a drive where 25gb free space (its fine when i quit the demo) ..... i guess Windows denies laws of physics and data storage or I just cant explain it

@prudislav Because it could go twice the size for unpacking? Not to mention TEMPORARY DATA being written while installation. Like really, use logic and make sure you have more space instead of "just enough" Laughing

@hairy_thetwo:
i was not talking about instalation installation went fine ... the space error is only while playing !!!
Or is thats what this UWP shit acutally does is that even if you have fully installed game on D:/ drive and Windows Temp dirs also set to D:/ drive .... pagefile is 12gigs on both drives ... the game still "unpacks" more than the size of the game to C drive while the game is running???

i donts see any logic in that .... and just FYI C drive with only Windows on it has 25GB free and D drive has 1.3TB free space ... how is that not enough for 18GB game?

i guess you both missed the fact that the game is not installed on that OS drive with 25gb free space and even windows temp dirs are redirected to DATA drive

Its probably your page page file on your C drive then which will also explain why you have such shitty performance like you say. I am surprised you don't run into more problems with only 20Gb free.

never had single problem as the drive has only OS on it and temps are elsewhere, surprised that 12gb of pagefile on it is not enough ... ok nevermind uninstalled already anyway
...
this experience just sold me on never ever give WinStore and UWP a chance again and maybe one day when i clean my backlog dig up an ancient xbone and play this nice game

The demo sold me on the game. Runs great with everything maxed (the lowest it dropped was 56 fps (45 during loading) on i5 3570k with RX 480) and the driving is fun.

What's the cheapest way to get the game atm? Still buying an xbox account?

@prudislav

Some extra info

Quote:
Well, it depends whether you are asking about Windows Store's temporary location or Windows Store App's temporary location or Windows Store's temporary location for storing the installation App's backup. To be frank, I couldn't understand your question.

Windows Store applications
%ProgramFiles%\WindowsApps

The “Store” application
%windir%\WinStore

LocalFolder %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages{PackageId}\LocalState

RoamingFolder
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages {PackageId}\RoamingState

TemporaryFolder
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages {PackageId}\TempState

LocalSettings
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\{PackageId}\Settings\settings.dat

RoamingSettings
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\{PackageId}\Settings\settings.dat

So im pretty sure you didn't change these temp folders.

@hairy: oh that explasin the confusion as i messed up the original post Very Happy (game data is on D with 1.5TB free, on OS drive with 20gig is only windows )

@Lathieza
oh that kinda partially explains it ... as this PoS store thing doesnt use the standard windows temp folders (%TEMP% and %windr%\TEMP) but its ownshshit.
"Windows Store applications" i am pretty sure is the one which I changed "New apps will save to" button and which put actuall game files on Data drive .

... still weird shit that the game needs more size turn on OS drive that the size of its gamefiles on data drive while running (i guess to decrypt the enrypted appx on the fly in temp)

... still as i said above ... will not touch this PoS ever game even if my life depended on it

Well on D: (Cool Face) that shouldn't happen. The OS itself on that 20 gig free disk shouldn't cause any issues like that either.

I've read a lot about performance issues with the Demo in other forums, but this may be an issue with your Windows.

Drive to "Surfer's Paradise" first and check out the performance there.

After what Janz said I just uninstalled the demo and moved on. Sorry, but won't bother downloading it again just to check the performance there.

Alas, the demo doesn't allow to go there, they limited it to the first area-only Okay

I decided to give it a try (couldn't resist), the performance in the initial section wasn't bad either for me: 60+fps on High, FXAA, 1080p - with only some dips during cutscenes and nighttime racing on the combo i5 2500k@ 4.3Ghz, 970, 8GB DDR3 and standard ghetto HDD. Though indeed it's a flawed 'benchmark' since they (conveniently Cool Face) left out the most demanding area.

As for the game itself, it plays definitely better than its flabby direct competitors from EA and Ubi, since there are some rudimentary physics involved (with all the helps disabled), but as expected, it's still a bit too 'gamey' for me in terms of handling and simplified damage system. Not that I had any intentions to spend money on the silly store anyway Razz

Tested the demo myself, the game is promising, looks incredibly good, but I had to reduce A LOT of settings to keep 50+ ( not even 60+fps). Number isn't even concerning, because it moves the same at 40 or 70 ( at least for me ). The most concerning thing is the slo-mo feel, I have this feel periodically and I don't even know what's causing it, feels like I play a video recording and someone activates slo-mo once in a while, for one second.

I have a clean windows install, latest drivers and I find it very weird.

Finished last weekend: overall it's very nice, long and quite well conceived.

Only few things could be better, imho:

- last mission is laughable, at best: car and opponent. Really moron stuff.
- game lacks a bit of a soul in general, like there's no binding going between the gamer and the cars. No buyer sites (as opposed to TDU). Cars are sold alltogether in the festival sites, so no brand culture, no styling. It's all blended together. Those are cars 95% of us will never own: make something with it Microsoft, goddamit
- bumpy cars/races are no go for me... thank god you can practically skip them in favor of other races
- the feeling in general of a NFS Pro Street gamelike... all is "social", "fans"... A less of both would have been better
- as for other Forza games, the more you go up with car classes, the more the game feels arcadey, like A LOT
- too many heavy "gifts" if your an old Forza gamer: I started the game with like 5-6 gift good cars, and basically had to buy just a couple to finish the game (like the Audi R8 and the Warthog from Halo)

+ a few external drives 99% full Very Happy

My drives used to look like this but last week I made the decision to finally part with some of my pron in favor for capturing/editing footage for my upcoming youtube channel. Now I have 4TB free and I'm good to go. Some decisions ain't easy but I figure with all the YT$$$ I'll be able to afford more drives and restart my "archive" soon enough. Wink

Either way, I haven't followed this thread because of my GTX960 (2GB VRAM). Just saw the bypass edition and I'll give it a try before I even think about purchasing this game.

I don't get it why they handicapped the 970 so much, from what i've read, not even the latest gpus can't properly run this game.

i only have a 770 Razz

but the game eats vram and ram like a beast. with a 4gb 770 and 16gb system ram fullhd with 60fps @mid details should be possible. but as i only have 2gb vram and 8gb systemram it bottlenecks hard so i have to use low details

I know you don't own a 970, was talking about my case.

The slow-mo feel was given by the "framerate smoothing", turned that off and now instead of slow-mo, the game stutters, like it's struggling to keep the fps.

I don't remember encountering such a ... weird acting game, it's like a woman being on her period. All goes nice and smooth, until you misplace a spoon on the kitchen table. Embarassed

Too bad that they didn't optimized the game even more, it's quite promising. Sad

Just waste of time. None of the patches solved any issue. Even the menu issue is not fixed. Online never works properly. The DLC pack was ridiculous.

Even though the game was fun, there were so many small issues which made the experience last short.

I'm just glad I got my refund.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

its very weird acting if you limit the fps to 30, it feels sluggish (doesnt matter if vsync off or not). disabling vsync + setting framerate to variable it feels much better (even if it drops to the low 30s range)
