you cant compare uplay titles with steam only (ok the windows store is an exception here but doenst count cause those 5 people who bought it there dont make a difference). there are no cheap keys for uplay titles on steam, only way is to buy it directly on steam and most of the people dont do that
I have mixed feelings about remaster.
It looks great and all but I am not getting that vibe from it.
Same here. I don't know why, maybe nostalgia, but I remembered the game in a much better light. I'm still enjoying it, and it's a good remaster but something is off.
because mw1 is not the best in the series, its mw2. mw 1 was just a very good first game to start the trilogy and mw2 was just the best sequel they could made at the time and still considered the best of all cod's, was perfect from start to finish, also with hans zimmer scoring had one of the best ost, i for one im waiting for mw2 remaster
Im at this mission. operation dark quarry. And at this objective: evacuate the civilians. I see bots just standing there doing nothing. Can't hack them either. is this a bug or something?

Modern Warfare 2 was FANTASTIC. I remember finishing it many times but now I feel that MW1 is longer and more coherent in it's style. Mw2 is just a crazy blast. I will probably finish it too. It's jsut that MW1 can be seen as standalone game and MW2 have bad ending and is shorter

I did a few games of MWR MP and well... SP part runs great considering how utter shit MP performance is
I mean, every time I get into an open area with sunlight (that's most of the maps), my fps drops into 10 range Other times it's very chaotic. Will do some proper fps monitoring when I get the mood to burn my eyes again
Just finished the campaign. What a shitty story. Full of cheap deaths, and i didn't even understand what the conflict was about. And after the bad guy was dead, it just dragged on.
Maybe I am getting old.
Yeah, that must be it. Was the game that ... meh ?
I mean, I have an almost vivid memory of me playing the campaign, and I distinctly remember me enjoying it.
But this can't be the same game, can it?
So I launched the campaign for the remastered version, and there is the old familiar Lieutenant Price.
Or Seargent or whatever his rank is, with the old familiar voice and all that ruckus.
Ah yes, the old familiar parkour, where you determine your difficulty.
Of course a second later, the game just asks you to do which difficulty you want, but hey, at least it serves as a tutorial, right?
Right.
Ok, let's move on.
Now, I only managed to play through 3 full missions, before my little heart broke and I simply couldn't stand playing on.
Like I said, maybe it is just the nostalgia that lets you remember things differently.
Or maybe I was different back then?
Or maybe we simply didn't have anything else to play at that time, and you know.
I know I enjoyed the multiplayer aspect back then of modern warfare.
It had a similar mode like CS, Search and Destroy and many of "us" came from that game in need for something new.
And it did its job just fine back then.
I used to mainly play 5on5 Search and Destroy in clan wars over at ESL, and we had fun.
For a while.
Then other and better games came along, and we all moved on one by one.
But about the campaign. I was sure that I liked it.
But now I wonder why? As I play through the campaign, again, I start to realise how just flawed it is.
The endless waves of enemies that keep respawning, unless you advance beyond a certain checkpoint or the fact, that you can probably finish the entire campaign without even firing a shot because you don't seem to be crucial in it.
I mean seriously, give it a try.
Just stand behind your fellow mates and let them kill the enemy and only move forwards to unlock the next checkpoint.
I am positive that you can do it and that it has been done before.
Go ahead and watch your A.I. teammates.
They ignore you.
They don't care if you are standing in a spot and will run into you and push you away so that they can reach whatever scripted destination they were set to be.
It's almost pathetic, how poorly that was scripted.
It's like the A.I. doesn't have a pathfinding, but a fixed set of paths and waypoints.
So much about the immersion. It makes you feel like a spectator, who just happens to be in the way.
So the missions are just you running behind someone, kill enough enemies to move to next checkpoint, rinse and repeat.
It is not very deep nor complex nor the slightest bit engaging.
It is just COD; you'll say, and you be correct.
But it is worse.
This is the game that started it all.
And yes, we had Call of Duty "1" and "2" before and let's not even talk about console "3", but this was the first "Modern" Call of duty, and I mean both in setting and overall gameplay style.
It is the most linear corridor shooter FPS that ever existed at that point. Just move forwards, kill or don't and hit those checkpoints, mate.
The game just sends wave after wave of enemies at you, without there being any real consequences.
Enemies that seem void of any A.I. or any behaviour or anything. Just bots with an auto aim script. And depending on the difficulty you play, the script has been more or less loose with the reaction time of the auto aim.
And it is sometimes hilariously, how clear that auto aim script makes them behave. If you come from an angle or even behind, they suddenly turn to you and shoot at you instantly. Fun indeed!
Now another thing that I noticed, what that while my FPS was high, It all seemed very sluggish. Now I tried with V-sync off and on, and both have some weird latencies it seems. When using the oversized gun sights, which clustered more of the screen than what I'd wish for, it was very hard to keep the dot on the enemies.
There is a recoil and sway that I don't recall being there before, and I don't recall that ever being in a call of duty game. And I don't have a problem with recoil, not at all. I am a vivid battlefield player and ex- CS player and so on, but that recoil in the remastered version seemed off. It's like they added something, just to make it tougher to hit the enemies, to add another layer of false difficulty to it.
Or maybe they just screwed up the engine.
Whatever the cause, it is nausea inducing.
So after three missions, that's the ship, the save Nikolai and the first American soldier mission, I had to call it quits. The hugely oversized weapons and especially their sights and that weird nauseating recoil / Bobbing and the mindless creatures they call enemy combatants and more was just too much for me.
I might go to install the original again some day, just to make a comparison between the two, but I have a feeling, that the original will win there.
Oh and apparently there is no anti-cheat of any kind in the remastered version for multiplayer, so good luck with that.
I would add, that I don't suggest anyone buy this game, but since you have to buy a full priced other game, this is a moot point.
I'll do a review of Infinity Wars soon, too, I promise.
Cheers all now, you be nice now and good luck with Trump.
Well i kinda enjoyed it more then the CoD´s before, still no great game by a long shot. Best part of it for me where the space Combat parts, really had fun there.
Finally got around to install and play a bit and will do a proper review later on, but wanted to say, that it is rather funny, in the first mission (not the prologue), which takes place in Geneva, it is the exact physical location that I live lol.
And no, it doesn't look like that at all. Like, nothing at all.
The Area around the lake where you fight through the streets is all modern and most importantly pretty flat and open.
It's like they took the old city, which looks kinda like in the game and moved it across half the city to have it adjacent to the lake and the "jet d'eau".
