Think that's only the white dual fan version issue, STRIX doesn't have it. Funnily they are now the same (expensive) price here.

But if you have a 60hz monitor, adaptive sync will fix all whines. Or fast sync and locking fps somewhere under 100. More expensive solution new power supply (although it might go worse, if it's not audible to begin with)

Coil Whine seems to be on every card if you have ridiculously high fps (eq. 1000fps+), personally i havent heard a single card that does not whine at that kind of FPS, can be fixed with simple FPS limit, but if your card whines at 60fps or so, then its time to RMA if you are up for the hassle and it bothers you big time. My monitor extrenal PSU was whining more than my girlfriend, it was so bad that i ended up RMAing it (not the girlfriend).

There are tons of different coil whine sounds and sound levels. It effects on us in the way we hear it. Some can hear it more than the others and that's why there is no single answer is it fine or not. Besides that small children or animals might be affected by this more than adults. I RMA'd my EVGA 1070 FTW because of the coil whine. I bought the Palit 1070 and it also has coil whine, but not that high annoying pitch as the EVGA one. Even though it's not perfect, it's barely audible with the sound on.

I use it on BF1 and it's good. Noticed some jerkiness like first 10 seconds and nothing since. Just need to limit frames with it, compared to other vsyncs, to avoid extra strain/heat on GPU. The extra strain is the whole point. Fastsync allows the game to tick faster than your screen and produce frames that are discarded. If you prevent it from rendering wasted frames, it behaves the same as regular vsync

Yep, that's why I locked it at 70fps. I was fine with 60 as well, couldn't just live with tearing in BF1. Well no wonder because they cost more.. Compared to my 970 G1, 1070 G1 costs over 100€ more than this was new. Yes it's also fast, but it doesn't cost 100€ more to make than 970 did. AMD will get Vega out and poof, 1080Ti out. But at the moment it looks like 1080Ti will come out way sooner (heck it's already done) and AMD needs to hurry to get piece of the 107/80 pie.

But seriously, it could happen that someone has 8GB RAM and 10GB VRAM. Who would have thought couple years back that it was even a possibility.

Well I highly doubt that in 2 years we got a GTX 3080 with 16GB VRAM, might stick to 8GB for a while or if they can make 12GB work somehow with 256bus.

Since my old gpu DIED, I had to get a new one. 1060 g1 gigabyte My firestrike 2013 score is now 10700. I know those cards should go up to 12k but rest of my pc is unchanged. Anything else I could change? Maybe ram to 1600mhz ? that 2500k is running 4.5k tho Anyway. I am really happy with the results. I had about 5600 on old gpu, so it's almost twice as fast 3080, ps5, lg oled Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..." no need to invest into your old board, the bottleneck is a) the 2500k (if you bench a newer haswell or skylake i5 with the same clockspeed you will notice) and b) the ram yes. but putting money into that old tech, na not worth it. you might upgrade the complete system in 6-12 months. not worth putting money now into it just to gain a few % more. and the board+cpu combo doesnt support pci express 3, so there you lose a few % too

Oh man.. Crysis... 100fps maxed out at 1080p with msaa :O That game was 1 fps maxed in 2006 with msaa... and at lower res I am surprised. oh god the coil whine on that 1060 is horrible. So many years and they still have not beaten that. Although it's still lottery.
