14393.447 is the newest official build since tuesday

just use the media creation tool from ms to create an image or bootable usb stick. it will put 14393.x on it (dunno if they have updated their esd files, it might be still .0 or .5 but it doenst matter cause 448 will install as cumulative after installation via windows update

There shouldn't be any relation as far as I'm aware, you can even uninstall the xbox related apps and it should still work though you do need to have the store installed of course.
(As it doesn't go under protected apps it can be uninstalled though well doing it the Windows way is more about hiding the app for the current user account unless you DISM remove the install files though I wouldn't recommend it as there's no need, it's still gone and since the install files are there it can easily be re-added if ever required.)

EDIT: I do not know what settings you have altered however or how, I do things manually myself so if it's tool assisted I probably can't offer much help since I wouldn't know what exactly said tool decides to "clean" as some are overly aggressive.

As for managing it manually Microsoft has a Technet article on that very thing here. ->
https://technet.microsoft.com/itpro/windows/manage/manage-connections-from-windows-operating-system-components-to-microsoft-services
(Disable this service, alter this registry value, set this in the group policy and more. Smile )

(Also covers uninstalling apps.)

EDIT: Turns out you do need the XBox Identity app or it won't allow you to sign in, that can be re-added by running PowerShell in admin mode and this command:

"" Add-AppxPackage -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_11.19.19003.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode ""

No hidden setting, or a script to make the crap go away? I don't want to install stuff to make something disappear.

Connect and Contact Support are needed as they're system apps, store is useful but can be removed.

Can't remove edge, search or settings either (Don't remove settings.) but the rest can be removed although some won't allow you to just uninstall them by right-clicking and you have to powershell them.
(If it's not a critical system app like maybe search or settings - or some of the hidden ones like the start menu itself. - you really should be allowed to remove them easier but nope.)

http://www.askvg.com/guide-how-to-remove-all-built-in-apps-in-windows-10/

(DISM is needed to fully remove them from your install media but this works well enough while allowing you to re-install if ever required.)

I'm pretty sure he meant to just hide the shortcuts of all those programs. Wink

my installation broke. It was going strong for few months. Now when i want to update I get

"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800703ee)"

And I've cleared all I could think of

That's what uninstalling apps (Including the ones you have to handle in Powershell.) does, it hides them for the current user. Razz

But yeah it also makes them impossible to actually launch that way so as far as unpinning them goes without limiting their functionality or otherwise move, sort and arrange in the start menu or oh I don't know maybe actually having a functional fully customizable start menu at all goes I don't think it can actually be done without third party software replacements for it, unfortunately.

Basically you can't changed the default set sorting of # - 9 / A - Z default that MS enforces.
(Apps also automatically pin to said start menu without being actual icons in the folder structure of said menu thus no way to change those either with the default start menu.)

(IE you can't drag the shortcut icons into some subfolder and have them all under some nice little "Apps" folder, stupid decision from MS really to limit the menu but at least we have a start menu again now over the full-screen alternative in Win 8.0 until 8.1 opted to have something a bit similar to previous OS's.)
(And now Win10 removed the full-screen thing by default but the start menu is still fairly limited even now some three major Win10 build upgrades later.)

They finally fixed that for RedStone 2 so after you upgrade to it it'll remember the state of any current installed app, though from my understanding with the quirk of it being from that point on so one last go of uninstalling the non-wanted default apps seems to be needed. Razz

I have a strange problem since I last updated. I have a Creative soundblaster X-Fi, no idea what exact model since it's old. Every time I start windows, I don't have sound. If you go to the control panel you can see sound is being played, but it doesn't seem to get to the speakers. If I remove the card in device manager and restart the PC, I do get sound. I have no clue what the problem here is and why the solution I mentioned isn't permanent since it seems to work until I shut down the PC. I have auto driver update disabled.

Maybe someone can elaborate....

Lately some programs will ask me to run as Administrator (I am the only account on my OS with admin rights)

For example spybot and utorrent will always ask me for admin rights before running/making changes.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

@mister_s: had it with my creative card sometimes too (on 8.1 as well), switched the pci express port. no problems again

@tw1st: installed in c:\program files/program files (x86)? thats as always a protected folder, programs run "normally" (so not explicit as admin) cant write into their own folder there by default. open explorer, right click on the utorrent folder -> propertys and give your account owner rights. problem solved.

though i wouldnt do that for spybot etc, and that wouldnt even work cause it needs access to more folders

Yup, it's in that directory. I'll give your suggestion a shot, thanks dude!

old news, and just bullshitting. ofc mister kaspersky is pissed cause he cant sell his fucking idiotic bloated piece of shit software anymore that often, years ago kaspersky was great. then it became an overloaded piece of shit which slows down your system massiveley

ms is doing the only right thing to provide a base protection with the defender. anyone is able to install 3rd party software if he wants but nobody needs to cause the defender is more than enough protection

so it isnt reasonable that ms provides protection for free? nobody is forced to use that, but with that nobody is completely unprotected (and btw thats not a new thing that came with win 10, it was standard with 8.0 already). i always punch people who install fucking avira or free whatever crappy and popup annoying bullcrap instead of using the build in protection
