Finally watched it (had to wait to download the 1080p version, those three beauties deserve it - I'm not talking about the cars). It was <3
The jabs at Ferrari cracked me up, same for the stereotyped American Nascar driver xD
Quite strange of them though to omit the Yaris, it would have easily minced all those fancy scraps!

TBH I always enjoyed their "buy three shitty cars and try to win the following competitions" stuff... The hyper car shizzles was always some nice car porn, but I want the enjoyment of rolling reliant robins too

Top gear has always been a scripted show, but the military stuff in this ep was TOO scripted... The guys were always at their best when they were at least pitting their own ineptness (and occasionally skill) against one another, and I genuinely hoped it would be something along those lines... But it was nothing more than a little action set piece with some humor throw in.
Come on guys, don't forget what it was people loved... They need to stop over-producing stuff, and just have fun.. I wonder how much meddling amazon is doing in this... I also wonder how much they've asked the presenters to over-do it on the enthusiasm...
It's still amusing, I find myself smiling while watching, but the show needs reworking next season
Also... There's some serious laugh track adding going on, isn't there...

Oh boy that Vulcan
Chris Harris did a great job reviewing it, but he's too technical, Jeremy on the other hand, he reviews cars on a more funny note, love it.
Sure it's scripted, but their way of doing it, their British humor adds up.

its not the humor that i mind, its that the entire sequence wasnt them being themselves.. it was them acting to a script, which.. and yeah this is just to ME, makes all the difference.

I'm British and I tend to agree. It's over the top, well at least that was.
Hopefully it'll get better. It WAS quite funny at points, but it wasn't amazeballs.

Aye, it took a bit away from it. I'd also prefer a notch down on the scripted stuff.

Another +1 from me, I enjoyed the episode and the Jordan action hollymovie parody, but it really was a tad too long and..forced.
I don't mind that they're sticking to a precise formula (dying celebrity, banter, the Ameriderp ), though as Chiv said definitely we need more genuine and down-to-earth stuff going on. Amazon don't fuck this up pl0x!

Now that was more like it, back to what they do best
I've done that initial panoramic road so many times, it's 30-40km from here, only the experience is a bit different on a 'slightly' less fancy car (and no doughnuts xD)
I'm surprised that no one killed Hammond when he did that in Piazzale Michelangelo, it's almost a sacred place for the Fiorentini

I'm pretty sure they paid a hell of a lot to allow that because that's probably the dirtiest Florence has been in a decade

Indeed
Not to mention that the Dodge Hellcat alone already contributed to boosting our GDP by a good 0,1% xD

Third ep was a step towards more what I was after but it's not there yet.
Also I seem to recall seeing a clip on the river involving a boat and a jet ski and a lil explosion or something? Did that get cut?
Also the celeb thing, which was ok on the first ep, is getting worse.they really need to cut that shit out.
