I don't think the weather is any better in Lithuania nor S. Korea though and if anything I'm guessing the weather is just as bleak there.

I'd say the very shallow/superficial way of people interacting witch each other is more problematic. Anything confrontational is taboo. Problems aren't being discussed/resolved.

Even for a Belgian Introvert... it was quite a culture shock.

Correct.

Then again, one ain't allowed to say anything these days, without repercussions. People don't communicate, they just text or post. I sit in my local pub, and 90% just sit glaring at their devices. No one speaks any longer, and the only thing that remains true, is the glass in front of them, filled with whatever.
