ultra settings at 1920x1200 shows nearly 5gb vram is required in the options for me so probably not worth it on a 970. to keep it under 4 gb, shadows need to be dropped 2 notches down.
Enabeling temporal filtering combined with msaa 2x and smaa gives me more then double performance against not using aa at all ( msaa and smaa ) without the temporal filtering.
Pcss doesn't tank too much frames here compated to low, only just a couple of frames.
How is this even posible with the temporal filtering? i don't see a degradation of image quality but i'm not sure. Have to compare more to be sure.
no, you can mix and match, but even if you don't download the texture pack, selecting ultra preset in game, will tell you VRAM usage as if you installed the texture pack. sort of a neat bug.

look into the distance when driving. there's more shimmering from aliasing with temporal ON. but the performance increase is well worth it IMO. little bit of downsampling+ TAA is a wonderful compromise between speed and quality.
If the game didn't have so many damn jaggies at 1920x1080, I would call that a great port. Even with SMAA, the game is aliased to hell. And MSAA kills performance bad.
Increasing my resolution by one notch while using Temporal Filtering does give a performance + AA that is MUCH closer to what I would normally expect. It's just a shame that it makes the overall picture slightly worse looking. Still, probably the best way to play this game. It doesn't fall into the "bad port" category for me, it does offer a GREAT deal of options and it's possible to customize settings to reach a good compromise between quality and performance. It just doesn't enter the same territory as other truly great ports. I think The Division was better in that regard.
Also: it was advertised as a DX12 title about a year ago. Guess not =/.
MSI Afterburner does not works for this game ? Steam inGame FPS also is not shown
steam in game OSD works here. but yes afterburner doesn't work because of their crappy easy anti cheat protection.
I alredy sent them an email, but googling it about previous games with this protection, it seems they are not very timely at all.
The "Easy Anti Cheat" software is a bit like a rootkit and installs as a kernel mode driver blocking access to other non-whitelisted software trying to access the game code, not easily removable either from my understanding of it.
So, it's indeed becoming the new norm for PC Master Race gaming.. rendering games at a lower resolution than a native one to get proper fps... What a sad day, men, what a sad day..
I bet we'll see even more games having this "feature"..

yep, quantum break, dishonored 2, and now this. Almost feels like a necessary evil, like cpu's going multi-threaded due to the lack of single core clock speed progress with node shrinkage.
Seems very wise being on a 1050p screen and playing everything downsampled from 1200p, though my intent was never to combat upscaling with that
also men, put your tinfoil hats on, they are spying us
my game is up for share again, if someone wants to demo it or play it through.
If noone takes it, ill give it a shot
sure man, add me on steam, nick is in the sig.
in other news, for those needing afterburner OSD, the master has spoken:

Just returned back to home from office and installed Watchdogs 2.
Anticheat system is the reason of missing overlay and it is indeed blocking RTSS, their online FAQ claim that they support RTSS overlay, however their own list of supported overlay versions seem to be very outdated (it lists RTSS 6.2.0 and 6.3.0, newest one is about 2 years old). If their internal whitelist database is as "fresh" as that online FAQ, then they'll block any unknown RTSS versions (i.e. RTSS 6.4.0 and higher, up to current 6.6.0 beta 2). And BTW, RTSS 6.3.0, which they document as whitelisted, indeed works with Watchdogs 2, I've just verified it myself.
So now the only solutions are:
- Wait for EAC update whitelisting current versions of modern overlay applications
- Use outdated RTSS 6.3.0
Online is very good and a lot of fun to play. However, I'm not able to join anyone from my friends' list. Only random people.
Always says not available or failed to join. Any idea why?
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

You're right about the shimmering after comparing almost half an hour ( and other things of course ) but the diffrence is so minor ( overall as well ) that everybody should enable this option i think for the reasons you mentioned.
