Roccat makes pretty good ones.
I have some blue glowing mechanical Roccat keyboard.
No nonsense extra buttons at all.
Glows in dark if so wished.
And I think it was not THAT expensive (under ~150€).

So far been happy with it, nothing has broken (in a year or so).

Lights are as much nonsense as those useless extra buttons like on Logitech. Just a waste of money on something that doesn't make any difference.

Sure but bling bling is cool Razz

Why else people would use fancy cases for example. Best airflow by just having open rack and blowing table fan directly at the system Razz

Extra buttons can actually be an hinderance even. I hate the 'macro' buttons on logitech keyboards. I often used to hit the topmost macro button instead of esc accidentally (I used to have the logitechs first led screened keyboard (with the horrible orange led screen))

I also like the colors of the keys at night.

Extra buttons can be useful for productivity, if you bother to map something to them, and configurable RGB lights can serve as a sort of guide to your keyboard shortcuts or configurations (again, if you bother to set it up). Backlight in general is very useful if you like to play in darker environment.

Other than that it just looks nice Very Happy

There are more silent type switches, though obviously being somewhat more recent they do have a price premium on them and it's not going to be as silent as rubber dome type keyboards even so.

I do like how they feel though and won't be going back to non-mechanical, price is a bit higher between the two though but it's not like one upgrades the keyboard all that often unless it breaks down and the RMA has expired.

Well you go to do the silicone washer thing (clear ones from ebay). Best thing you can do to a mechanical keyboard.

I have a mechanical keyboard myself which is from Cherry with cherry mx black switches but I tend to agree.
Mechanical keyboards craze largely limited choice of membrane keyboards and raised overall price of keyboards.

I think normal membrane keyboard is good enough and would probably switch back too if there was anything interesting to get at reasonable price. But there is not.
Black switches are probably most quiet of them all mechanical ones but I still think its super loud.... and super satisfying

Well, second day with the keyboard (KM780 brown normal) and I'm slowly getting used to it. Keys are further apart and have a smaller contact area than I'm used to so it leads to more typing errors than usual. Also to remove the "G" keys on the left for now since I was constantly hitting them while trying to press ctrl, lshift, caps, tab, etc.
Also, a small annoying detail but the caps light is not visible sometimes from where I'm standing Sad
Need to rig a small reflector somewhere around/on top of it.

Dat key feedback when typing though... Me Gusta

Ugh, the keyboard layout is bugging me, I'm missing keys all the time. Starting to think if I haven't done a huge mistake by buying it without trying it first... Sad

Any of youse had a hard time transitioning from one keyboard to another? Did you keep at it or returned it in the end?

Not only are they noisy, they are also ugly as sin. Many looks like some late 90's keyboards.
Everyone keep jabbing about latency bullshit, but i'm pretty fucking sure that's not noticeable in the slightest.

Still using my G510 and it's perfect for me!

I've read on Cherry MX official website that they now have a Black Silent type, but I can't seem to find any keyboard that's using them?

I'd go for a mech kb, but most cherries are still too noisy for me (even the Strafe Cherry Silent). Sound testing on the website, the Silent Black almost fills my needs.

Been hitting those G keys like that too a bit. Going to take a lil getting used to. Other than that though it feels like pretty sweet board to game and type with.
