Lately ive been shocked at whats happening here.
DR now allows venezuelans to go to DR without visa i think, something like that. So recently we've had a HUGE influx of venezuelans. They even rent apts and move 10-15 in a small apt.
Ive noticed them at 1am selling homemade food at drinking spots and hangouts. Ive noticed a TON of young woman in prostitucion, i mean a huge increase, its everywhere, whatsapp groups, fb, as young as 19. Last thing i saw was a mature woman (motherly kind) cleaning car windshields at traffic lights.....
Ive asked around and most of them are doing whatever they can to send money back home. It breaks my heart how many of them didnt have that kind of life before and suddenly they have to come here and sell themselves and break their backs selling stuff at all hours.
Kind of shocking when i put myself in their shoes...

Mm, I guess I dreamed all those topics then.
That being said, it's not just happening in your country. You could see it everywhere. Guess the wealth keeps on getting to less and less people.
Few years ago I was shocked to see at work that we (as in Belgium) were sending furniture, clothes, household equipment to the USA. A country that big, spending billions to fight wars who's needing other countries to help out their poor citizens.
The world is a bit shit like that.

Shit must be hard if they are migrating to DR, wtf. They let the socialist cancer fester too long, I guess?

Kind of wierd having people think your country is heaven, right ?
Same goes for Ukrainians in Poland: They are thrilled to earn at least thrice as much as they do in Ukraine (prices for goods are the same!), and that's basicaly minimum wage. Which by European standards borders on poverty
Venezuela is so screwed up it's ridiculous. But their regime sees nothing wrong with that, just outside enemies everywhere.

At least you get hot Venezuelan guapas, we only get Romanis and folks under Firemaster's agency
All kidding aside, I think the reason behind it is a similar one, with our country being (wrongly) perceived as some sort of heavenly oasis of happiness, like a fake and misleading postcard, whereas in reality the iconic "la bella vita" is something that the 99% of the people here cannot experience because of financial troubles of some sort.
It doesn't take long before realizing the harsh truth though, that's why most of the times Italy is merely an emergency stop
