The end of the video says they are looking to an end of summer/early autumn release for early access.

Looks like good fun. Very Happy

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

eaarly acces info updated on steam:
Quote:
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“It is hard to estimate exactly how long Astroneer will be in Early Access, though we are aiming for a year or two.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The full version of Astroneer will be the complete aerospace exploration fantasy:
    - Explore infinitely diverse worlds with unique atmospheres, biomes, and landscapes.
    - Shape your world with a myriad of deformation tools and features
    - Survive against a number of reality-based hazards. From weather situations, turbulent environments, and unforeseen medical crises.
    - Build and manage a working industrial base and leave your finger print of the galaxies economy.
    - Customize everything from what your Astroneer looks like, to the modules you produce, and the rovers you own.
    - Play with friends, or strangers, in an online experience that encourages communication and cooperation to succeed.
    - Unravel the mysteries of the galaxy as you search for the elusive Astronium.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“While we do not have a public Early Access build, the current version of Astroneer explores experiences for 5 main pillars of a resource gameplay loop:
    • Discovery
    • Traversal
    • Excavation
    • Transportation
    • Transformation

http://blog.astroneer.space/system-era/expectations/

Quote:
Recently we announced details for the launch of Astroneer and that’s something we’re super proud of. Now that the information is out, there’s been two important topics that come up in discussion amongst the team. How will our game be perceived and are we setting the correct expectations?

I don’t enjoy writing about the missteps of other developers, but in the name of transparency I think this is an important point to make: The controversial release of No Man’s Sky fuels a lot of discussions about the development and marketing of Astroneer and more importantly the reaction the gaming community had to it. A lot of the press coverage about Astroneer links the two games together and we’ve seen a lot of talk amongst our community about those connections.

I’m not going to comment on one specific aspect of the game or the people behind it. This blog post isn’t about that. I want to take this opportunity to put into practice the most important thing we’ve learned from witnessing No Man’s Sky: Know what you are saying, but understand what is heard.

Quote:
When Astroneer launches in December it will be an incomplete game.

The game’s core designs will be playable, but some will be fleshed out more than others.

There will be art that looks incomplete, very rough, or too simple.

The multiplayer will hitch and probably act weird (hilariously so).

Audio be missing or trigger in the wrong spots. Or maybe the music playing isn’t appropriate for your moment.

You may even experience a game-breaking bug that will force you to start over from scratch.

You’ll load the game up for the first time and almost certainly experience and form an opinion about at least one of those things. That’s exactly the reason we want you to check out Astroneer while it’s in early access.

At least they're being upfront about it. Razz Laughing
The No Man’s Sky incident has hit the genre like a giant asteroid, but maybe it was for the best ...till the next one!

what kind of graphics is this (what's it called?) same used in grow home / grow up (both amazing).. there's something appealing with untextured graphics, somehow (probably because it stands out a bit).

Is it Voxel?

It is, yeah. And I think they went with the textureless look precisely because it makes the terrain deformation a lot simpler (and it has that certain aesthetic appeal as well, tho can't think of many other environments than an alien planet where it'd work - maybe the bottom of the ocean or vast dune desert).

Was Planet Explorers any good? Something like this would be great to play as co-op over the holidays.
