Watched the who;e season these days, very good overall, finally something written very good and that makes you think a little; didnt liked the theme much but evrything else was done properly. Sadly no Hopkins in season 2 and 2018 seems far away especially if its in autumn
Also, the actors were great imo, the blonde chick which ive never heard before, really kicked ass, same for Harris or the black whore.
And I have a hard time telling who is a guest and who is a host because I don't quite understand the rules. Who can hurt who. Theoretically the hosts can't hurt the guests, but if they are playing around with nitroglycerin??? Isn't that like a big no no??? How is it allowed by the company that writes the narratives and such???
They have shown how explosives work in one small scene. I am not sure if you have seen it yet, but it's not technically a spoiler, since it just clarifies some things. Just applying common sense though - do you really think they would just allow something as unpredictable and volatile as nitroglycerin in the park?
It's a giant movie set - everything is a prop.
Ok, thanks. I know what scene you are talking about, and I did think about it. But I thought the guests were legitimately scared about the nitro so I decided it's probably not the same thing. Or maybe because say William doesn't really know much about the place, he thinks it's real?
Ah, well, I'll post more in another couple of episodes
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Another 2 episodes watched.. (ep7). I liked those 2 a bit better than a bunch of the previous.
So far Dolores is hardly the star of the show in terms of screen time / importance, if anyone is, it would seem to be Hopkins' character.
Personally I consider the company conspiracies and the board nonsense as ridiculous as Man In Black's treasure hunt Maybe future episodes will provide context and change my mind, but for now.. nope.
I'll probably finish it tomorrow, however I am really sad to be wasting this gorgeously filmed series with these bellow average rips. We need a bluray release!

Dunno which rips you're watching, but I've had the BATV releases with 5GB each episode and the viewing was nothing short of crisp and delightful
There are BATV releases for all episodes, but no, I'm not downloading these 5+ GBs/episode releases for my 768p TN laptop
Much smaller releases should do the job of looking relatively sharp, so I'm downloading the monkee releases which have the second biggest size (~1.6GB/ep), but they look washed out. Other series I'm watching with similar file sizes look fine.

Finished. 7.5/10. The maze stuff were indeed as stupid and boring as I thought they'd be. Also several characters did nothing of value.. Teddy, that security guy, Sizemore, etc.
Production values, cinematography, action were near excellent, but it needs better, more interesting, plotting.

Just watched all of this in two days - I haven't touched it previously, on purpose, to be able to binge the shit out of it. And, holy hell, was it worth it
Fantastic show, almost perfect. There was maybe a couple of sketchy things in the script
Spoiler:
For example, I find it a bit strange noone would recognize Bernard's appearence. I mean sure, it was many years ago, but Arnold's photos must've been everywhere, after all, especially considering the suicide and all.

But still, fantastic stuff.
Explained many times in this thread already
Yeah, I know what you mean, but it still sounds a bit sketchy/ unrealistic to me. I could buy it for the wider audience, guests and so on, but not for people being on the board, Theresa etc.. But it's a minor thing anyway.
Over 40 years passed since Apple was created, yet I still know how both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak looked. Keeping something like that completely hidden just isn't very plausible in a digital age. Impossible? No. Implaussible? Yeah, I'd say quite a bit.
You just have to roll with it, it doesn't make any sense at all realistically. To me it's not a problem though.

People weren't simply unaware of what he looked like. They were unaware he was part of the project. It's not so much being able to find out what Steve Wozniak looked like, it's closer to never being told Apple was founded by a guy named Bob McKenzie.
It IS silly, but it's part of the suspension of disbelief.
Yeah, it's not a big deal really, just something I found a bit strange. It didn't weaken the narrative for me either.
Steve Jobs and Apple have always gone out of their way to be in the public eye.
The early iterations of Westworld were supposedly worked on AWAY from the public eye - because it wasn't ready for public consumption.
Think of Ford and Arnold as geeky scientists that didn't enjoy the limelight.
While it would have been hard to keep Arnold's identity hidden, I don't really think it's that big of a stretch - unless you want to break the show apart.
If we do that, then there's a ton of smaller issues like that.

It's really hard to evade the limelight when you (spoiler just to be sure)
Spoiler:
commit a rather mysterious suicide inside your own pet project
I wasn't breaking the show apart either, it just jumped at me, that's all.

Why would it be hard? No witnesses except hosts that died. Only Ford knew - AFAIK.
I don't see the problem here. It was hushed up - and the show spelled that out more than once.

afik everyone was aware of arnolds death. It's why precautions were made so that the hosts would NEVER EVER hurt a living.
Delos knew of Arnold. They were interested in the park. So there must've been meetings/reports/etc. Until Arnold realized that the park was a baaaad idea.
If you're Delos... and you're gonna fork over the money you'd be sure to meet the fathers of the invention. Also... when was Bernard born? Why didn't he age overtime? Why no one noticed? (Black don't crack? but it goes grey). Was he introduced to the staff like 5 years prior? Was ford all by himself? Or did he make different nuarnolds over time?
Cause... what Ford could've done, instead of making a new person who looked like his old friend, he could've remade his friend under the same name. But it wouldn't fit the narrative for the plot twist. And it would've made Ford much more evil to have the hosts wilfully ignore instructions and kill his best friend only to have an obedient replica waiting.
There are plot holes, and glaring flaws in the show. But that's a nolan trait. His much more successful brother is known to do the same thing. So.... it's ok (WE LOVE THE NOLANS). Things here were written to fit the narrative and to be able to glue in some nifty ideas that they developed while developing the show. Like the plot twists, like the concept of the ghost in the machine, like samurai world, like 127 hours, like thandie newton killing herself over and over and over just to wake up and research.
The twists, the concepts, everything. I mean... THE FIRST FUCKING THINGS YOU SEE IS THANDIE NEWTON IN THAT NEW WORLD SETTING WHEN YOU WALK IN AND YET WHEN SHE BOARDS THE TRAIN WITH THE HUMANS NO ONE RECOGNIZES HER?! SHES THE FACE OF THE AD....
but like... you know... who cares? It looked cool

It's curious how a show with so many nuanced aspects has people wondering about such trivial aspect about how a small project with almost no workers managed to hide the identity of one of the founders.
Not really trivial when it was one of the CORE TWISTS OF THE FUCKING SHOW.
It's like the saw 1 twist. Dead body on the floor. No one knows who it is. It gives you the whole back story of the bad guy. But not really any motives. No close ups on the dead body to reveal that it could be guy in the flash backs. Just some dead body in a random setting where two guys try to act their way out of chains. AND YET WHEN HE GETS UP THE AUDIENCE GOES OH MY FUCKING GOD! THAT! NO WAY! NO WAY I DIDNT SEE THAT COMING! Well of course you didn't because it made no FUCKING SENSE.
