I thought the ending scene(s) were nicely done actually in Rogue One.
Stormwulf: Why is a force sensitive martial artist an issue? I thought it was neat.
I think the blind character in Rogue One shares some aspects with the Miraluka (no eyes). It also opens the mainstream door on the rather obvious; that not everyone who are force sensitive are Jedi/Sith. We also see Luke in the old trilogy fight combat drones just through feeling.
In that when you lose one of your senses, like your eye sight, you become more aware of your other senses; and if you are force sensitive that might boost 'the force signal' for you.
The force seems to govern/RNG luck to some degree as well... whether a shot misses you or not... The movies need to explore more dark side force sensitives; without them being Sith. If there are many light sided/neutral people with force connections, it only makes sense to bring out more dark sided ones too - if only for balance. The movies are always very pro-Light side. A dark side 'ftw' movie is needed to balance this out, where the hero, no matter their intentions, are dark sided not good guys.
It was an OK movie, but not one I'll watch a second time.
I didn't think Vader saying don't choke on your aspirations was out of character, he was getting big for his boots and Vader put him back in his place.

Will someone who only saw TFA and liked it, enjoy this one?
I think so.
Watching Rogue One is good start for anyone who is new to Star Wars; then they have a nice way of going into the 70s/80s movies with more context than people who originally watched Star Wars back then. All Rogue One does is set up EP4.
I don't recommend anyone watch EP 1,2,3 (The Prequel Trilogy), but I guess you could do that before watching Rogue One...
I'm going to see it on Wednesday(cheapest tickets ). I hope it will be better than TFA which was pretty meh.
It kinda is better because its not trying so transparently hard to reach certain story beats like The Force Awakens did. TFA had a ton of pressure, and it didn't meet those expectations, so I hope EP8 and 9 will feel as if the directors have more freedom to make their movies 'fresh' instead of trying to always look towards the original trilogy. It could be good or it could be bad, but at least if there's freedom they have a chance at becoming good movies - if it is all about copying the old movies Disney will take Star Wars nowhere, and I don't believe that they want it to not progress properly (in terms of the overall story/Skywalkers etc). Rogue One is a very straight forward movie with only one objective going on at all times, making it a very simple thing to watch.
Rogue One for me wasn't bad, it just isn't a movie I'll watch again and again. I've seen the originals many times. Would I recommend NOT watching it? No, I'm glad I watched it, and it gives more background/context going into EP4. It held my attention more than TFA.
Mmm, really conflicted in if I should watch it in the cinema or not.
You should. But skip IMAX Cheaper that way.
Yeah think I'm going to check it out next week or the week after. Seems its good enough to go watch. Was wary because of how TFA turned out. Seems most people find this one better. That being said, I have low expectations this time around so that might help.

What did he write about The Force Awakens, I wonder - or better - what did he write about the Prequel trilogy.
Just saw it too, im a huge star wars fan, always been, as much as it pains me to say this, this movie was really boring, and i like slow paced movies, and slow burns and what not.
This was just devoided of any sense of acomplishment or adventure or anything related to those, im all for dark/serious tone but this movie suffers from it big time, the dialogs are nothing to write home about, some of them are pretty terrible, madds mikelsen is a top actor for me, and he had little to work with in this filme, the villain seemed like he had been punched in his month and had some kinda of trouble speaking...
I found the force awakens a safe movie, a reimagining of the story we already know, one of those soft reboots, and as a result, i didnt find it spectacular, but boy has my opinion changed after seeing rogue one, force awaken is much better in most fronts than this movie..
People are getting all hyped up on 2 key scenes in this movie, each of them have about 30 segs on them, and i just find it stupid that this movie is beeing judged and hyped on such small scenes, and they arent even that good, i will go out as far to say that, the prequels, no matter how bad some of the scenes on them are, also had their moments and memorable ones, wich are much better than these ones imo, they are not excelent movies like the first trilogy, but they get way too much flak.
Force Awakens 7/10
Rogue one 6/10
For the sake of my SW history:
EP1 - 6/10 I still liked it more than rogue one
EP2 - 8/10 the best of the prequels imo
EP3 - 7/10 Besides the actor that plays darth vader doing a poor job, or beeing poor directed.. it has a lot of key moments that are pretty cool
EP4 - 8.5/10
EP5 - 10/10
EP6- 9/10
IF someone is on the fence, and it pains me to say this, im a huge buff for SW, just wait for the bluray..
Also EP1 is also 6/10 but he liked it more. Then why assign the same score to both?
And EP7 is much better on most fronts, yet the difference is a mere 1/10 more (7 instead of 6)? Wut? To me that would imply "it's a little better", not "much" better.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
It's an 8/10 movie compared to the 6/10 he did before this.
He improved on his work, disney knew what they wanted and he was moulded to deliver. So... movie delivers.
In regards to the rest of the movies... it's star wars. Like the cartoon star wars where lucas had no involvement. It's the star wars games where Lucas let the studios do what they wanted as long as they followed the core story lucas envisioned. It is better than 7. Simply because 7 was safe and careful, while this was an experiment that worked. If there's anything that positive about this money grab is that they'll allow more directors to experiment with what they do in relation to star wars stories. Which is good.

Wtf is up with the shit-talking about regular Joe Star Wars fans. They can say what they want about the movies, but they don't get to talk unchecked about regular people just enjoying the movies face value. These guys are arrogant fat ugly fucks.
Changing something so iconic and classic as Star Wars and still make every fan happy though sounds nigh-impossible. They tried, and made an OK movie; not a family movie, not a comedy movie, but an action movie with a thin plot and shallow characters we know almost nothing about in order to care about them. I agree there wasn't anything clever about how the characters went about the mission. Straight forward stuff with a slow burn start and fireworks at the end. Curtains down.
STILL. The movie was in the OK to GOOD range for me personally. I do like stuff shooting at stuff.

I think they meant SW fanboys, the people that really clapped when iconic stuff from original trilogy showed up on screen. But I haven't warched the spoiler part of the video.
Slightly better than Force Awakens for me, both are my least favorites in the saga.. The prequels are really entertaining, lots of interesting characters and locations and there's a feeling that there's a lot going on in a really epic way (Lucas can always really nail this feeling imo). They also dont feel extremely linear to me, not like these two movies.
But this one at least got the SW vibe right with e.g the few city scenes with interesting looking aliens. Main problem is it had way too much combat.. I did really like some of the scenes where they were sneaking around that imperial base in the rain, the scenario and the whole setup reminded me so much of the Jedi Knight games.
Leads sucked, Donnie Yen and his buddy rocked, the droid wasn't bad, actions scenes were good, CGI Grand Moff Tarkin was weird, CGI Leah was even weirder, locations were good, Darth Vader was badass.
7/10. Solid.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty
