Rogue One - 6.5 / 10
it was ok, dumb action flick that was only superficially Star Wars, but entertaining nontheless.
It's definitely not as good as Force Awakens, there just isn't a single interesting character, I couldn't give less of a shit about whatever happens to them since there was no emotional attachment. If Gareth Edwards knows something, as he showed in his movie Monsters and to some extent also in the Godzilla crapfest, it's how to show scale. Thanks to a few great scenes and some fun setpieces near the end, I give it 1 point on top of the 6/10 score I would actually give out, but subtract 0.5 points for the horrible uncanny valley cgi characters.

Suicide Squad 3/10
What a bloody fucking mess. I just can't believe how bad this one is...
I wonder how many cd's the soundtrack was, felt like they burned through three just for the first 10 minutes. Half way the movie they were still introducing characters... Cunt face model should really stop her acting carreer, pretty terrible once again. Well so so so so many things I could bitch about...
The film being a mess must have been DC and countless of re-takes no? I really have a tough time thinking up how they ended up with something like this.

At least partly.
In full what we know: Script written in 6 weeks (it usually takes months), reshoots ordered to make the film "more fun" because in the meantime Batman V Superman was released and was heavily criticized for being bleak (among the things changed with the reshoots: removed further elements that showed that the Joker/Harley relationship is abusive and they scrapped the original third act, where she became independent of him and decided she wants to be with her new friends rather than his plaything by changing it into that they really love each other like normal couples do ), and re-re-re-re-edited by various people, including the company that made the trailers(!) to make it feel more hip, by introducing all those songs and those flashy 2D graphics during the character introductions etc.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Arrival - 8/10
Good movie but also disappointing due to my high expectations. Fantastic direction, but only okay script.

blair witch
i didnt like it. i dont think it added anything worthwhile to the franchise... if anything, it made things less coherent and more silly. The jumpscares were predictable, and there was zero tension... just lots of shaky cameras and screaming in the last third.

Rogue 1- 7/10
Fresh from cinema. I liked it better than TFA. But I must agree that it wasn't well filmed movie, the characters could have been better, some scenes were unnecessary and clearly a fan service. The final battle was great but made the rest of the movie so much weaker.
Spoiler: | I cried after Danni Yen and his gay lover |

Sound of My Voice - 7/10
An intriguing low-budget project, well acted and directed, with that surreal ambiguity that tries to deceive you, only to leave you with even more questions. It's a relatively cheap trick, but works well.
One can definitely tell where the OA is coming from (@Consolitis )

Oh yes. I know that it sounds like a bizarre thing to say, but of all the things I especially find attractive the way she moves her mouth. Damned weird fetishes

Funny story:
Quote: | Tons. We were such a small crew that we weren’t worried about the cops on the L.A. bridge, but we had no money. We had an iMac that we bought, that we would have to return every 13 days because otherwise we’d have to pay for it. We couldn’t afford even a computer to edit the movie on. We returned it three times. |
Quote: | Yeah, we didn't have money for even a computer to edit on. Brit would drive into an Apple store, and we would buy an iMac and return it on the 13th day, and then we'd go buy another iMac. It was sad. I don't recommend that to anybody. |
Quote: | To save money, the film was edited while they were shooting. Since they couldn't afford computers to edit on, they went to an Apple store, bought an iMac, and returned it 13 days later (the stores have a 14-day return policy). After they exhausted their supply of Apple stores in the area, they went to Best Buy. "We needed to move fast," the director explained. "We were running out of money." This was all done while the two held down day jobs. |
Quote: | The Sound of My Voice computer we bought at the Mac store, used it for 14 days, returned it, bought another one at the Mac store, used it for 14 days and returned it-- we literally had no money. But we didn't want to believe that had to be the thing that roped our imagination in. |

deepwater horizon
eh..
it was ok, but nothing amazing or memorable. its weird, this one was packed with explosions, yet between this and the relatively quiet sully film (i compare them because theyre both recent films based on real events), id pick sully as the superior experience.

Rouge One 9/10
Yeah, it's shamless fan-service, and the characters are utterly forgettable, but it delivered exactly what I wanted. A spectacular SW flick with little-to-no Force/Jedi/Sith-related drama. As much as I adore the universe, including the mysctical side of it, it would have been too much of that stuff only a year after TFA.
They could have taken a couple scenes off at the first half and replace them with some real character building to make the ending more impactful, but otherwise, it's pretty much the same kind of popcorn flick I came to love in the MCU.
For "proper" SW, there's the new trilogy, for the MCU-esque version, we have the story-spinoffs.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - 7.5/10
On one hand you have paper-thin characters, an "impressive" amount of half baked comedic bits that don't connect and a story that didn't need to be said in the first place.
On the other hand, you have an excellent 3D presentation, impressive battle sequences in the third act, a welcomed change of plot (no longer Jedi/Skywalker focused), and supremely calculated fanservice; never too much, never too little.
Better than ep7.
Spoiler: | CGI Tarkin was the worst part of the movie.. Young Michael Douglas in Ant-Man was so much better! (Young Leia was in for like.. 2 seconds.. by the time you began to notice what was wrong with her, it was over, so she gets a free pass). |

The Accountant - 3/10
Good action scenes and Bernthal were the only good things in it. Watching my cat sleeping was more interesting than this mess.

Two prison movies:
Riot - 5/10, decent fight scenes, one near the end reminded me of the Arkham games. Dolph Lundgren was underused. Chuck Liddell playing a Russian mob boss was stupid.
Vendetta - 4/10, once Dean Cain entered prison the plot was basically abandoned and the movie was just a series of pointless fights.
