During its third-quarter earnings call with investors, EA gave more details on the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront sequel.
The follow-up is due to release holiday 2017, with EA mentioning the addition of a single player campaign to the sequel. It also said the new Battlefront game has "more heroes and characters" than the original game, and takes place not only in multiple locations, but also across multiple eras within the Star Wars universe.
EA first officially confirmed the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront back in May 2016, and at E3 we learned EA Motive was working on the game. EA has Motive, DICE, and Criterion bringing "their areas of expertise" to the game.
Interestingly, during the investor call, the game was not referred to as "Star Wars Battlefront 2," but instead was called the "next" Star Wars Battlefront.
Their greediness, ineptitude and constant need to make everything accessible has managed to absolutely murder all the possible interest for a Star Wars Battlefront* title, damn them to hell
*or any Star Wars game in general
Perhaps I'll bother with the authentic&cinematic(tm) single player campaign for the lols, provided it will be bypassed in some way. If not, I'll just pretend that it doesn't exist and nothing of value will be lost.

I still am convinced that Battlefront was rushed to get it out in time for The Force Awakens. Hopefully they have learned.

They know this is a lincense to print money, some star wars fanboys alone will buy anything that's thrown at them. And then there's the usual pre-hurrdurr any triple AAA game crowd to add to those.
The other SW game, the one they're actually taking their time with will likely be the only decent SW game. And even then it's EA so...

I like Star Wars, but the last game was like a huge punch in the face - beautiful visuals (and I mean absolutely stunning, no denying that) coupled with gameplay with the depth of a dried up puddle. In a desert. On Mars.
I can't imagine much changing for the next game. Oh how I miss Battlefront II

Dice can't make a coherent, focused SP campaign if their life depended on it. So the only reason why this might be of interest to me is gone right from the start.
Ofc SW fanboys will eat up ANYTHING so it's not like dice really has to make an actual effort. Hope EA puts some of the dough towards that other SW game they have underway, that one seems to have much more potential.
Yeah, there's not much hope for the single player here really, we have enough evidence at this point to conclude that and practically close the case.
A few shoehorned Star Wars Stories® with nostalgic cutscenes, half-assed simplistic gameplay, and they'll make it sound like it's a renaissance, BF1 style xD
