Divergent is a 2014 American science fiction action film directed by Neil Burger, based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth. The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ashley Judd, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Maggie Q and Kate Winslet. The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic version of Chicago where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Beatrice Prior is warned that she is Divergent and thus will never fit into any one of the factions. She soon learns that a sinister plot is brewing in her seemingly perfect society.
PS Neil Burger? The Illusionist was OK but Limitless was kinda shitty lol ...the trailer didn't really impress me to say the least but it has Kate Winslet so I'll check it out
they just keep releasing more and more movies based on "bestseller" books written for teenagers (mostly teenage girls as it seems). Mark my words it will get worse!
What were the previous ones? Vampire academy & The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones ?So bad...
When did it begin? Was Twilight the first among dat kind of movies ( teenage crap)?
I have nothing against novels aimed at younger audience and making films based on these novels but ffs make a good, compelling story.
I watched this despite being totally oblivious to its existence so I had no idea it was based on a book aimed at teenagers.
Dear LORD it sucks. Shailene Woodley should just stop acting - seems like every movie I see her in, is some shitty teenage flick. She has the charisma of a door mat.
“No,” the Oscar-nominated actress told Vanity Fair at the premiere of her new HBO miniseries, Big Little Lies, at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theater. “I’m not going to be on the television show.”
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
A franchise she helped make disliked - they managed to make movies where not a single main actor had any real charisma which is quite a feat! What saddens me is that, with there being so few decent scifi movies, they put money into sequel upon sequel of utter crap like this! I mean, Maze Runner was a young adult book too and was a million times better.
