you are still able to sell those keys, they are not tied in any way to the serialnumber of a card
but the buyer has to have a modell which is eligable for that key. means: you bought a 1070 a few months ago? no problem, you can buy a cheap key from current promotion and activate it on your uplay account via geforce experience
if you are a sadist and want to play crap like for honor or wildlands. in the end those keys will be even cheaper than before cause they only can be activated if you have a fitting gfx card

It's pure business. Publishers are forcing them to do something because they were losing on sales because people are selling these games for much much cheaper prices compared to retail ones. It sucks indeed but I can clearly see why they are doing this..

But how hard would it be to fool that shit program into believing that "this is not the GPU you are looking for"?

The latest Nvidia drivers have had a number of telemetry related services and processes unless you know what to strip out (It's not optional components you can just untick by doing a custom install of the drivers.) plus GFE supposedly stores a lot of data via this forced registration server side though from what has been posted so far it's mainly hardware related along with generic DXDiag system info and such, at most they'll have your Windows user name but that's about it really. (And possibly the profiles currently in use by the driver such as for anything you've used GFE for to one-click optimize for example.)
Not sure how easily it would work to try and spoof fake GPU data but unless there's someone manually checking consistency and what not that doesn't seem like it would be impossible in order to redeem these new keys via GFE which I assume then gives you the actual Steam or whatever client key you register for the game itself.
EDIT:
I'm no expert on Nvidia drivers though, previous system was a 780GTX in the old machine my mom and dad had but now they've started to utilize mobile phone apps instead so it's been scrapped since a few years back.
(The only "GPU" is the Intel on-die CPU thing in the work related laptop system so not much for me to do with that whenever I have to remove some random bit of spam or other light maintenance.)
Still there's been quite a bit posted about GFE and these recent changes and restrictions but separating what's true and what's blown out of proportion rumors or what not on how it works well it's not something I've looked into much myself.
Nothing against Nvidia as such although I've been using AMD GPU's for some years now so personally as things look at this moment what happens next mostly comes down to the next GPU generation, Nvidia or AMD will mainly depend on performance and price difference whenever this current GPU is going to need to be replaced.
Fury GPU so overall performance isn't too bad but the 4 GB VRAM is becoming a bit more of a limit recently heh well it's there to be used after all, things are a bit different though now that it's GB instead of MB, 6800 or what it was with it's "massive" 512 MB VRAM back in ~2004 or so was it?
All the way down to 64 MB or what the first true GPU I had was again, think the Voodoo 5 5500 was 128 MB or some such.
Also speaking of memory SSD's are being a pain it seems, is it that damn difficult to have both storage space and decent speed at a OK price point? Well then again these memory chips are apparently fairly contested now so prices are a bit all over.
A drive that only weights a couple of grams without the little heat-sink/cool looking metal thing/over-expensive logo holder heh well that's also going to take some time to adjust too but that's for the full system upgrade whenever that needs to be done.
(Well it's still relatively new tech and HDD's even for just a few MB used to be pretty damn expensive too initially, at least weight should never be a issue again...)
But that's that and this is about GFE and Nvidia, will be interesting to see if Nvidia makes any changes due to the feedback / outcry over these recent restrictions at all or what will happen next.

GTX 1195 next flagship card confirmed!
Seriously though, with all these "NVidia vs AMD war" posts all around the internet some people immerse themselves in it too much. The kids who make them don't realize how much they can affect the minds of some weak brains.

And that's how you fucking demonstrate a new product dear AMD.
With actual numbers of performance, and doing a very fast release afterwards.

I expected this. They'll continue using all the money they got to push for anti-consumer performance killing shit like their crapworks that cripples AMD performance and ironically performance of nvidias previous cards. AMD pushes for innovation. Nvidia tries to keep their leading (for now) position by using cheap an d dirty tricks.
Hopefully their shit won't work on Vulkan..At least for some time..

Nvidia card is based on the existing GPU and is already produced and ready to be released in the market. You can't compare the Nvidia launch event to AMD Vega GPU presentations as their cards are still months away from launch.
