i think the success of the first film went to peoples heads with various parties taking credit...
reynolds wasnt some genius deadpool fan who made the film what it was... im not even sure the director was anything special. the film was a triumph of advertising above all else. the film itself was 'OK', but it was teh fantastic marketing which was the reason it made so much money.
i dont think the sequel will do as well regardless of who gets what role and who directs or how much influence reynolds has...

Yeah, I have to side with Reynolds and the writers. A character like DPool is better suited for the type of film the first was.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Considering Miller runs Blur Studio, I'm thinking Miller's train of thought could had been: "higher budget -> more CGI -> more work for Blur to do -> more money I (or my company) make".
Or maybe because he is a VFX guy he just wanted to do some cool VFX

Excellent choice.
Bring Keanu with him, and he can play Deadpools silent nemesis - Cable.

So getting rid of Miller might be a good thing after all.

There's plenty of work being done in US and Europe.
eg if you go to Deadpool's imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1431045/fullcredits under Visual Effects there aren't many Asian names at all.
http://www.blur.com/blurs-vfx-work-on-deadpool/
Quote: | FXGuide did a nice article about the VFX for Deadpool. The article indicates Blur’s contribution to the film along with our awesome collaborators that include Digital Domain, Atomic Fiction, Weta Digital, Rodeo FX, Luma Pictures and Image Engine.
Blur was a hub for Deadpool. In addition to contributing visual effects, Blur was home to the editor Julian Clarke and the editorial team as well as Fox VFX supervisor Jonathan Rothbart and others. We learned a lot working under the same roof with such a great team of people. |
Had Miller stayed Blur would definitely be hired again. They still might be actually to some capacity.

...or maybe he just realised the limitations of the first movie, and wanted to use the first films success to be able to do more with the sequel.
wanting a bigger budget doesnt make the guy an asshole, you know..
and a studio wanting to cut costs doesnt make them a hero.

I'm sure the sequel will get a bigger budget, just not $150M. And I don't think anyone considers the studio a hero

Quote: | Dear friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided not to score the upcoming Deadpool. I love this character and creating his and the movie's original score was a monumental chapter in my life, personally and professionally.
Since it was revealed that Deadpool's brilliant creative director Tim Miller will not be involved in the project anymore, I have undertaken some soul searching. Tim was the driving force behind Deadpool and me getting involved in this amazing project. Deadpool without Tim at the helm just does not sit right with me and that is why I have decided not to be involved in the second chapter.
It was a difficult decision, as I love the project so much and I know how eagerly the next installment will be anticipated, it's hard to walk away from something so unique, but it also has to feel right.
Hope everyone understands. Onward and upward.
Love,
Tom |

Okay I remember one piece of music. "X Gon' Give It to Ya" but it has nothing to do with Junkie XL.

he does great standalone music but madmax and deadpool scores were generic forgettable background fluff
served well their purpose as emotional support but compared to the average score it really doesn't stand out in any way

Fox really can't help it, they've gotta squeeze 'em all as quickly as possible. Calm down men, we don't even know what kind of hodgepodge Deadpool 2 will be xD

Quote: | It’s official, “John Wick” co-director David Leitch will direct the upcoming “Deadpool” sequel at 20th Century Fox.
Heat Vision reports that Leitch has closed his deal for the gig several weeks after originally slated helmer Tim Miller dropped out as the director. Miller exited the project over “creative differences” with star Ryan Reynolds. |

Quote: | Where in the process are you with Deadpool 2 at the moment? Is it still a stand-alone sequel for the character?
Reese: Yeah, it’ll be a solo movie. It’ll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool’s movie, this next one. We’re pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we’re on our multiple draft now. It’s taken different twists and turns, but it’s really coalescing, and we’re very, very excited. We’re a little nervous, because now we feel like we have to live up to the first movie, but at the same time, we have to have faith, and we have an extreme passion still, and as long as we have passion still, and it’s not a mercenary, venal play, which we don’t think this is, I think we’ll be in good shape. |

like the first one, it wont matter how well its written, it wont matter how well its acted, or how well its choreographed or directed... unlike what the opening title claims, the real heroes are the marketing team. The pressure is entirely on them to come up with a completely unique and killer way to promote the film...

I don't think it has a shot of getting the same Box office numbers at the first one, 783 million WW, is an incredible number for them.(Breaking all kinds of records )
It just got everything right, great marketing, perfect timing(nothing much competing with it) felt fresh compared to the other superhero movies.
They won't be able to replicate that.
If they improve on the movie, which should be doable, as the first one really was just another origin story with a deadpool twist,
and with a good audience and critics score it should do between 500 and 700,
which should still be a good margin if they keep the budget low.

And the original writers are out? That's interesting, although perhaps he's just polishing their script rather than doing a page 1 rewrite.
