Its amazing how W1 turned out looking at all that shit. Only 1997 version looked great and actually impossible at the time, matching gothic1 graphics

Witcher 1 is one of (if not the) best rpg's in the last 10 years

Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
i have only played 3 to just past the griffin (only just finished DA:I) so i wont comment on that yet

while i loved witcher 1, one thing i felt it was lacking was the grand adventure feel that i usually expect from rpgs.
it had very few locations and felt a bit claustrophobic for an rpg.
otherwise the writing and story were great, it was a very immersive game.

Yeah, witcher 1 was more like an adventure RPG. not quite as adventure slanted as Elder scrolls: Redguard, but not really a full blown RPG either.
If I had to chosen I'd still pick it over TW 2 & 3.
TW2 was great but the interface was clearly console-oriented and I didn't like the potion system. Also, it didn't feel as big or as open.
TW3 was very open but the open world didn't keep me that hooked + the story was way watered down with side quests left and right. If I ever have a lot of time, I'm sure I'll manage to get further into the game but it feels more like a chore to play.
And yeah, TW1's combat was basic but the story was great, the locations great, the size of the areas just right and I loved the inventory and interface. If only the other Witcher games still had a decent interface instead of the shitty full screen controller-oriented nonsense.

Yeah, no, in many cases the side quests in TW3 were way better than the main story. IMO TW2 had the best main story, the whole Wild Hunt story arc that started in the first game wasn't as good compared to the isolated Assassins of Kings in the second game.
Still, overall TW2 is my least favorite, basically: TW3 > TW > TW2

W3 > W2 > W1

Don't even think i ever finished the first Witcher, because i didn't really enjoy it back then.
Comapred to W2 and especially W3, which were awesome.
I didn't enjoyed the story of W1 too much because it was revisiting stories from books too much. Second one was much more on it's own and catchy. No need to speak about third:))
thats weird, since i considered w2 to be the worst. still a great game, of course, i love the whole franchise, but the first game is still my favourite - the sheer world and story creation of the third one elevates it over the 2nd for me. Witcher 3's world building, and realism of how its lands and villages and cities are laid out, is something bethesda could only ever dream of being able to achieve.

Ya W1 for me has best gameplay, while i enjoyed the latter games they were more mainstream and console centric.
