If you're willing to redownload the game, I recommend finding the original EUR files for the base game (there are MEGA links around, quick download) and then the Venom update (also mega links around). These come already "unpacked", meaning you'll only need to copy them on your SD card.

So I am confused. Is this still the best way of hacking Wii U?

This thread is long but explains a lot of what can/should be done:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/mattkimuras-wii-u-hacking-guide.462121/

To keep things very simple, here's what you should focus on:
- Download the starter pack and unpack it on your SD card as mentioned.
- Extra: download https://github.com/Yardape8000/wupinstaller/releases/tag/y1.3 and extract the folder "wupinstaller" in SDcard:/wiiu/apps. You'll see both a folder "wup_installer_gx2" and "wupinstaller" in the same spot if you did it right.
- Once you have the Zelda files, create a folder named "Install" on your SDcard. Inside it, create a folder for the base Zelda game, and another one for the update. Example: SDcard:/Install/Zelda and Install/Zeldaupdate. Put the title.tik file in install/zelda

Now the part where you install. Make sure you have enough free space on your Wii U.
- Put the sd card in your Wii U, open your internet browser on the console and visit wiiubru.com/mocha (make a bookmark). Click the button it shows. Maybe it bugs out and freezes on a white screen, that means hold the console button power down until the console resets, keep trying until you get a black/command screen. Press A, it'll bring you back to the home screen. If you saw that black screen with text and went back to the home screen, you'll know Mocha worked.
- Once Mocha worked, go to loadiine.ovh/550/HBLK (make a bookmark again). Pick the wupinstaller.
- In the wupinstaller, you'll see options on how to choose between installing Zelda or zeldaupdate and where to install. Choose Zelda first, install on your system (I believe thats the A button), and wait a while. Once that is complete, pick the zeldaupdate, install on system, and wait a little more.

Once that's done? You can play! Follow the same mocha and wupinstaller steps whenever you want to install more games. visit mocha every time you launch your console to be able to play Zelda, otherwise you'll simply get an error.

Thanks for the info!

Well I'm trying Mocha... 5/5 times I've had a white screen. Is this normal with mocha? Or did I do something wrong? I'll try it a few more times

OK so I got that working (the SD card didn't like being named wiiu, but it likes being named a single space)... but I'm now getting errors when trying to install Zelda to system memory...

Quote:
Install of title 0000000-0000000 failed.
install/Zelda
Error:MCP_InstallGetInfo 0xFFFBF3E4
Confirm complete WUP files are in the folder. Try power down.

I am going to try and put the Zelda files onto the memory card again. And failing that, I guess I'll have to grab them again.

Wait - should I be getting the "USB" version or the "Loadiine" version? I just realised I was trying to use the USB version! I will start downloading the Loadiine version, but is there a way to get the "USB" version working?

Get the USB version not loadiine, the game has issues cuz it can't stream data fast enough.

If you can't install from SD then your SD is corrupted.

It should work flawslessy, just use WiiU USB helper to make sure you get the game from Nintendo

It's the easiest console to pirate honestly...

Even noob friends did it easily so I think either your download is corrupted or your sdcard. There is nothing particular needed.

You are right though that you cannot name your Sd WiiU.

My biggest problem for the evening yesterday was getting wup installer to work and placing that install folder at the right location Laughing Spent hours racking my head over that one only to figure out i placed the install folder in the wiiu folder instead of the root of the card. Also i first used a homebrew channel or something version of wup installer which didn't include .elf file. Took some time to figure out that one as well as i thought there was something wrong with my homebrew launcher Laughing but it worked in the end!

I also get white screens with Mocha very often. Part of the reason why I uninstalled the Eur version and installed the US version on my US console, as I dont have to use Mocha to launch the game anymore (maybe still do to install it, dont know).

For the errors you're getting: try to verify if your files are 100% complete. Sometime Mega has issues where one or two files (in downloads of 200-300 files) are corrupt.
What I did to make sure all my files were good and complete was pick a torrent of the game, transfer my Mega files into the torrent folder, and Force Recheck in the bittorent client. I did that after getting errors when installing, the torrent client told me my files verified to 99.87%. I let it download to 100%, threw my files back on the SD card, and then it installed correctly.

I don't recommend using the Loadiine version either, it loads very very slowly. Will create issues in an open world game like this.

Thanks for the tips in this thread, got it to work.

I had some issues with my sdcard, even reformatting didnt work. I then used diskpart (cmd) to delete all the partitions on it (turned out there was a hidden part with unused space at the beginning) and formatted it with 64KB clustersize (read that on gbatemp somewhere). Didnt have any issues installing after that. Im using mocha too.

How does someone go about getting games working without the need to Mocha every time? Would I be able to move over without losing my saves?

Is it normal when using a DNS to block updates that you can't update games?

I have access to the internet but fails on updates and multiplayer.

Just make sure you skip the update before it's finished downloading.

Don't do what I did and let it download, as it won't be able to install the update and you won't be able to launch the game without installing the update. I had to fully uninstall the v33 update then reinstall that to get around the issue.

Guys guys guys.

It's totally normal that with dns block it still finds the update but wouldn't download it.

Just unblock dns, at least to let it update.

Not only that but it would install the legit update and thus allow you to boot it up without Mocha or any cfw.

Once the game was installed, I didn't need Mocha anymore. But only when installing the proper game for my console's region.
When I installed Eur game on my US console: needed Mocha.
Once I uninstalled Eur, installed US (and ported my save with saviine): no need for Mocha anymore.
That's with the game installed directly on my console HDD.

That's normal. You can stop blocking DNS, let it update, then start blocking DNS again.

OK can someone help me out? I've downloaded a few games from the interwebz, and they all have a folder structure like:

USB\Install\Game
USB\Install\Game\code\
USB\Install\Game\content\
USB\Install\Game\meta\

I then downloaded the appropriate title.tik file from the interwebz and put it in the root folder, so

Game\title.tik

Along with all the 0000xxxx files which are also in the root folder.

Now, when I run WUP installer and attempt to incstall, it just says:

"Confirm complete WUP files are in the folder. Try power down".

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

That's loadiine format, you can't install it.

For install you need the .app files type.

So how do I play it sir? (Ideally without running Mocha every time... which has a 1 in 5 success rate!

Download your game from Wii U USB Helper. No need for Mocha as long as it matches your region.

Loadiine versions are launched through a Loadiine launcher from the homebrew channel. That's how pirated Wii U games used to be played, but nowadays it's far less popular as loadiine games are loaded from SD cards, which load very very slowly. WUP versions are installed straight on the console or through an external USB drive, which is faster. Also installing a WUP version doesn't require Mocha every time if you pick the version for your region. In Zelda's case many of us had to run Mocha every time since the EUR version leaked early, and not everyone had EUR console. But if the console is EUR, and the game is EUR, it'll require Mocha to install but not to play.

So I'd simply recommend downloading a WUP version of the game you want to play instead of Loadiine. Or Wii U USB Helper, I know it's a popular alternative, but I personally dont know how it works.

I've been out of the WiiU scene for a little while.. But my interest peaked again when Zelda appeared, but had completely forgot which method I had used back in October time.

I've ended up looking into and now using the Wii U USB Helper program. You just search for the game you want, download it and then copy to sd card.
SD card back in the Wii and then go to the homebrew channel and then to the installer.. done.

The only problem I've found (not related to Wii USB Helper) is when I've installed a game to the USB.. Even though I have it plugged in with a Y cable and gone into the Wii settings to disable the USB power saver thing.. every so often, when starting a game up, it'll tell me that my USB is off.

If it's a Seagate HDD, there is an internal power saving, you can disable it by installing their tools from their web site.

Thanks. So I ended up just getting Wii U USB helper. My only issue is that the Wii U internal memory sucks - can only get a few games onto the Nand!
