Animations are just the top of the iceberg. Deeper lies the true problem: this is simply not a well designed game.
I don't doubt it will sell well, but in 2017 the strongest part of a BioWare game is the combat, and even that is mediocre at best!
Yeah, the main issue here (apart from all the various monstrosities) seems to be that there aren't any redeeming features that make you want to say "well, X and Y suck, but at least Y is brilliant", nothing really stands out, the mediocrity monster has swallowed the entire thing. Which really makes the comparison with Dragon Age Inquisition sound like a fitting one.
The Frostbite can traditionally provide amazing vistas, it's in its nature (even I appreciated that back in the day: http://imgur.com/a/oS2y5 ), but the castle of cards inevitably crumbles if the environments feel so lifeless and artificially designed to be gamey so to speak, with their inhabitants making things even worse, along with the chore-centric nature of the journey. And when you no longer have meaningful characters and dialogues because of the inner ineptitude of your writing team, all that's left is the combat. Problem is, it was awfully uninspired/simplistic in Inquisition and it definitely seems that despite the "efforts", we're reaching the same conclusion here as well.
And to think that the idea of having a dynamic combat on large levels mostly free from the old box-friendly static Gears-like constraints, relying on the typical powers with the addition of jetpacks would be such a promising one on paper. Bioware, not even once.
is it me or are there way more black named npcs than white ones? Im not that guy, i just noticed! Just look in the Infirmary!
There are very few white people in the game. Apparently Bioware believe the best way to restart the human race is to only have a few white skinned people.
Oh no! Its Mafia III on space!

Bit the bullet and got Origin Access just to see how bad all this was...
There's no redeeming this piece of shit. End of story.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
That was obvious. If they couldn't fix it in time for launch after 4-5 years in development and several delays, no miracle patch cooked up in the month or so between going gold and release was ever going to save it.
Miracle patch incoming!!!
Pretty amusing how ignorant these derps on social media are if they think a patch will fix years of animation work and design
Maybe some bugs yeah but animations
So far, everything about this feels like a decent next generation Mass Effect game - with the usual modern Bioware writing. Meaning, it will never approach Witcher 3 level writing - but everything gameplay related, so far, is superior to all the Mass Effect games.
Combat is superior.
Loot is superior.
Progression is superior.
Movement/feel is superior.
Beyond that, it's vastly superior to the last Mass Effect game in terms of visuals - and especially when it comes to detailed environments. It looks almost like Division in this way, which is a very good thing.
What it does NOT have is the same sense of wonder and mystery of the first Mass Effect - which was easily my favorite in the series. They didn't even bother to voice the Codex entries (as far as I've seen) - which is a shame.
But I'm not sure any game could really provide that fresh sci-fi ambience more than once in the same series.
Andromeda doesn't seem to set itself apart in any way in terms of story/feel - which is not a good sign.
I haven't personally experienced much in the way of animation glitches - but I'm sure they're there. Hard to say how bad it is when you don't see them.
But it will all come down to the writing and primary content.
My main concern is the "filler" content feeling I'm getting. That's one area where the previous Mass Effect games could be superior - because while they were all full of utterly trivial sidequests, the actual landing locations didn't feel like a grindy scavenger hunt.
I don't like stretching content in this way. But if the "main content" is meaty and satisfying - it could work.
For those of you who haven't already decided to hate this game because of the usual excessive hater-hype - you can safely ignore a LARGE portion of the criticism. It's ridiculous.
Sure, there are plenty of issues - but most of them are being blown way, WAY out of proportion.

Now what I really want to see is the RPG Codex review
I wanna see a video by the Worthabuy guy. He will probably destroy the game.
If he doesn't cave his own head in from all the facepalming
He's going to need a new fucking bell, that's for sure!

There is no 'excessive hate' here. Mass Effect is a well-liked game series despite its flaws. Big games being scrutinized before they're released, what else is new.
"ignore a LARGE portion of the criticism. It's ridiculous.", he says. Heed your own advice.
A lot of what has been said was based on PR/third party preview footage and information. Get the chronology in order. If the game impresses people once its out and about, opinions will change and rightly so.

I don't see the point in going on about this.
If you don't see the excessive and overplayed criticism, then we simply disagree.
Don't listen to the haters. They are just trying to be edgy.
Always the same on this shit forum. Game isn't even fully out yet and everyone here is already an expert.
It's like they think years of gaming experience would give them the ability to tell if a game is shite or not just by watching footage or playing some demo. Like playing games for about 30 years would matter
Besides, if they didn't buy the game, they got no legal right to complain anyway. I hope this has Denuvo so I can sustain myself with their tears over a game they hate anyway.
It's ridiculous. No, wait, you people are ridiculous!
This overwhelming negativity pisses me off so much recently. Entitled pricks!
I don't understand how anyone can say combat is better in Andromeda. Are we playing seeing same game? You have zero control over your party members. You cant customize their skills nor their weapons. You can't use their skills to combo with your playstyle anymore. Only thing you can do is to give them orders to go to cover or charge enemy. There is no reason for them to be in combat anymore. You would be better of alone. They don't res you when you fall. It is game over.
Oh also new cover system, you can't even cover in some places. There is no crouch button so you just stand still there as open target while you fail to get into cover.
They just added jetpack for mobility and people say combat is better already. More pew pew more awesome button actions I guess.
I usually just lurk here but man I couldn't keep reading combat is better arguments. Hell awesome button works wonders on people.
I honestly dont get it. The cover system got so much shit for being gears of derp-ish and now the problem is that it's gone for a more traditional style of not giving a shit and just trying to not get shot.

If it was more traditional you could have crouch for manual cover.

A "traditional" style has crouch so you can find cover manually and avoid being hit. This game has a cover system which works like crap and the solution for non-cover situations is a weak dodge which is ineffective on the highest difficulty levels.
I've had few problems with the cover system, personally. It took a few battles to get used to how the "hotspots" worked, but after a little while - I moved comfortably around the battlefield and had few issues staying in cover.
Now, I never spent much time using specific squad member powers in ME1-3 - and I almost never gave them any specific orders. Even when I did, they were never good at following them - and they died to stupid shit constantly.
The reason I prefer combat in Andromeda is that it's much more fluid and feels like the action RPG they always wanted it to be. Then again, I never found the "tactical" aspect of ME1-3 good in any way whatsoever - heck, even KotOR was better in that way.
Now, I can move around freely and I'm not subject to rigid and predictable combat setups. The character mechanics mean I can customize my loadout in a much more interesting way, using a large variety of powers. I really like that.
Also, the "feel" of movement and combat in general is much more natural and less about cover-cover-cover and more cover.
So far, enemies are actually doing well in combat, too. They stay behind cover - and you can target specific body parts as they're exposed - meaning you will be rewarded through patience and careful targeting.
Overall, it's not a miracle or anything. But in terms of entertainment value and the combat arsenal - it's better than any Mass Effect game.
Do note, though, that I never enjoyed combat much in any of the ME games.
