As far as I know it's legal everywhere?

Oh yeah. Was not my intention to deny that. The significance, however, is debatable. Plus some people can just get the Wii U version.

Why? It's ported on the PC.

Judging the other emulation methods and their popularity, I highly doubt it takes that much significance at all.

The devs are from Europe, good luck dragging them in front of court just to cost them a fortune in legal fees

only in america #RipBleem

plus people can just get a Wii U and Loadiine, like that doesn't hurt sales, haven't seen Nintendo successfully take action against those loaders, even in Wii times

same with Dolphin and every Emulator ever

Cemu ain't going nowhere, the precedence speaks strongly in the favor of Emulators so Nintendo probably isn't even going to bother, especially outside of the US

Yeah and as was said before this is mostly only relevant for the US anyway law is even more clear on the side of emu devs here in the EU and they also can't employ scare tactics and other crap here cause our law doesn't favor money over everything.

Lets not forget that TPB was legal also, and they made new laws to persecute the founders for "assisting [others] in copyright infringement".

Money has long arms.

TPB had only one reason why it was created -> piracy

emulators are a different case (though ofc to dumb games for "modern" systems like the wii u its most likely needed to break copy protections which is illegal in many countries. but thats still different)

Well considering piracy on the actual Wii U system is as easy as it gets (there is no copy protection btw)and you can download the games directly from Ninty cause their Eshop has no security whatsoever i don't think it matters much emulators are for preservation and the Wii U is allrdy a discontinued system.
Ofc Ninty hates emulation because they want to sell their old games again and again they are by far the greediest in that regard funny enough those games then run on their own emulators...

I did not pay a cent for an emulator in my life and I can use any of them

As long as it doesn't devolve into "pay me money or no release", it's fine I think. There's a very fine line between asking for donations and greed though. If the game works perfectly in the near future, I'll happily donate 20 bucks. I'd have to buy a WiiU/Switch + the game otherwise.

Seems like a great payment system to me. Developers get more money, people can support it (and optionally support their own choice or ego with the 1 week incentive) and freeloaders get everything at a slight delay as well. What's not to like? Smile

So they are saying that people who donated $5 will get the cemu 1.7.4 on April 2nd? That day is awfully close to April fools day??? Then on April 9th it will be available to the public? Ah! As if it won't be leaked before April 9th?

RPCS3 is heavily multithreaded compared to CEMU which really just majorly uses one core and spreads out some lesser things on the others.

I wouldn't be so sure man, I'm on an i5 3570K OCed to 4.2GHz from 3.4, and Cemu is pretty flawless. Sure BOTW is only around 15-25fps, but that is also not too optimized yet, most other games run at max fps.

You got it !
Yeah, it will probably leak, saw the 1.7.3 build floating on warez websites the day it was released. There's a unique key file in the .zip, don't know what the authors can do with that - disable the Patreon access for the sharer perhaps, if the executable does communicate with their servers for verifying.
Still, I don't mind supporting this, for once.

Edit:
Someone who obviously leaked the exclusive build will be removed from Patreon access. The dev said this in reply to someone complaining about getting banned:
Exzap wrote:

For further clarification: There is no limit on how many different computers you can run Cemu on. What triggers the 'leak detection' is how many times Cemu is run over the course of a day. If that count reaches something like 1000+ in just 24h (like in OPs case), there is clearly something going on.

Even after 1.7.4 is released Zelda still has problems...on reddit they are saying the movies don't play yet but some modder is working on an interrupt fix. When the movie should play it will trigger the game to go to the folder the movie is in...play it that way...I think the cemu should be improved for all games not just Zelda,,,,I mean it isn't the Zelda emulator???

Exzap has said he has nothing against people using this workaround in the meantime but they will not include workarounds like that officially and coding the h.264 engine could take a a few months since it needs a lot of work to be done on the os part of the emulator it's a very hard task.
So this is really the only way for now so what does it matter to you what some other people outside the cemu team do? Do you rather not want any video playback or want to wait a few months for the official implementation to be complete?
