Damn i'd be pissed as fuck too if i were dumb enough to refuse a percentage of the sales on a game that sold milions of copies Laughing

was mentioned a dozen of times. Basically every time he gives an interview or is asked in public what he thinks about the game, he tells it's shit and he has no moneyzzz from it

all that said, he still benefits from the games, because they definitely cause a (im sure) significant boost to sales of the franchise.

interesting... that's 180 degree turn from the last time he talked about it during some fantasy con in Polandball, basically what Guy_Incognito told. But there was a lot of flame after the last time, maybe he changed the strategy Smile

As I mentioned sometime ago, I think he's just butthurt as he sold the rights dirty cheap and never thought that the game will make so much money, and he'll get shit from it. But can't blame him for that Smile

That interview was nice, guess they caught Sapkowski in a good mood .. maybe enough beer ?

And he still benefits from the games, indirectly as the games raised awareness, people go buy his books.

They were good, indeed, but I just started the Saga and it's on the same level. Finished Blood of Elves just, the characters' background is strong.

46 million for the game is pretty impressive, "only" 35 million for marketing is also noteworthy I guess seeing how some studios spend triple digit numbers on that particular part.

Impressive and good results too for the money spent it seems. Smile
(Also impressive to have two big expansions sold for a pretty low amount of money offering enough gameplay to be games of their own or how to say.)

Cyberpunk 2077 is in full production & in advanced development stage, new The Witcher game hinted
Quote:
During its investor’s conference, CD Projekt RED revealed some new information about its new Cyberpunk game, Cyberpunk 2077. According to the company, Cyberpunk 2077 is in full development mode and there are over 300 people working.

As CD Projekt RED noted, this represents 3/4 of the total workforce it wants on this project. And while it already has all core staff for the project, the team is looking to hire plenty of testers.

Unfortunately, and while Cyberpunk 2077 is in advanced development stage, the team won’t share anything about it in 2017. As CD Projekt RED has already claimed, 2017 is the year of GWENT.

But what about a new, proper The Witcher game? When one investor pressed CD Projekt RED’s CEO Michal Kicinski about it, Kicinski had this to say:

“The Witcher was designed as a trilogy. Trilogy cannot have a fourth part, however we like that world very much. We have invested 15 years of our lives and loads of money into it and we will probably think about it at some point. But please consider us as rational people, we sometimes have weird ideas, but overall our thinking is very rational. We have full rights to The Witcher games. They are ours. We have invested enormous funds into promoting it, and it’s a very strong brand. Answer your own question Smile

Kicinski concluded that CD Projekt RED has to be very careful with its words, because everything said during that conference is also heard by the gamers.

“Obviously plenty of you are gamers as well, but what we tell gamers is part of the marketing campaign, so we can’t discuss certain things even though we know them already. We cannot reveal our full hand.”

So yeah, our guess is that there will be a new The Witcher game in the near future, though you should not expect it anytime soon!

Yeah it's not too surprising.. What's inevitable would obviously be a Witcher game where you create your own Witcher instead of playing any of the known ones. Let's just hope that it wont be a MMO.
