Captain Fantastic 8.5/10

Great premise, best acting (the kids and Viggo) and a sincere message: you can set aside the system if you believe it so.

It lacked excellance because some scenes were a little bit exaggerated and unbelievable, like the ending, in an on the other hand flawless representation of humanity. Recommended.

Rogue: 7/10. Slow in the beginning but picked up towards middle/end. I was always star wars fan, but until past few years the Star Trek movies are much better.

The Last Samurai

I remember loving this one way back then, and it's still a good movie IMO. I really don't like Cruise as a person, but I cannot deny that he is a good actor, which is why I enjoyed Valkyrie too.

I bit overly dramatic, and none of the included subtitles were for the Japanese lines, so I had to go on what I remembered. Still, it's a good flick, if wildly historically inaccurate.

7/10

Rogue One 7.5/10

Well made, they pulled off showing the 1970s style in a 2010's way. It missed a little heart though, no character really stood out and made you care for. But I hope they keep going this direction for the next Star Wars movies.

Yea he is a douche as a person, but fuck me if his presence alone doesn't automatically make a film good, I gotta admit he is still one of my all time fav actors.

planzet

oh god what the fuck even is this thing. the fate of mankind rests in three "elite" mech pilots, who have done nothing but train for the day they will be needed... who carry no extra ammo for their weapons, one womans sniper rifle even runs out after 3 shots..., two of the three die stupidly after about 7 minutes of extreme panic and virtually complete ineffectiveness... oh and one of them has a sister who is like 10 or something, who happy manages to walk into the super secret military base and right up to the commander, with nothing and no one to stop her.

the big plan fails, the commander feels miserable at being such a useless twat, fucks up trying to kill herself, and then goes on a rant about needing to defeat this hostile force FOR PERSONAL REASONS and not, you know, the fate of mankind.

oh, and they had a super weapon the whole time that they never used, because 'it was too powerful'... but hey.. lets just use that shit now and defeat the aliens in 5 minutes with super laser beams, because quite frankly, we've been sporting enough to let them virtually DESTROY THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW without us really bothering to do anything back to them.

this is possibly the dumbest movie i have ever seen, and being only 50 minutes long does not get it any leniency from me for being this shit.

yes i spoiled the movie for everyone, but its better this way.. holy shit im fucking grumpy at shit being this dumb and this fucking aggravatingly nonsensical. I only stuck with it because im, unfortunately, a sucker for cgi movies.

WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK.

WHAT THE FUCK.

oh god. if youre the kind of person who loves to do teh drugz (which i think is probably conservatively 60% of this forum) and then watch movies, boy do i have a film for you. the first.. 10ish minutes were some of the most bizarre... cool.. but fucking weirdest shit ive seen in an animated film. The whole film was pretty fucking surreal as shit, and.. ugh.. the ending i think was trying to be some crazy uplifting kinda deal, but it mostly felt like a bit of a ripoff i guess.. i dunno.. i think if the whole film had been better, id have accepted the ending more, but as it was, it felt just weird as fuck. From what I understood of the film, the concept was actually kinda neat? The first AI kinda robot to be made, deals with trying to understand itself or something? and its growing desire to feel love and also valuing its own desire to live? and then it kinda passes its program on from machine to machine through the following decades as it tries to.. i dunno.. live, i guess? like a robot body snatcher or something i guess (which is, possibly, why its called baton? he keeps passing along his operating system from bot to bot to continue its existence?) every time it is near death, it passes its programming on to a new host to continue on. I feel like it was an OK concept just handled like a fucking drugged up fever-dream or some shit. Very weird. Its weirdness and intrigue at least made it a more palatable film than fucking planzet (which, by the way, can fuck off. what a piece of fucking trash)

ok thats enough weird jap animated shit for tonight i think.

Absolutely loved it. James Mcavoy is a great actor. Didn't like x-men but in movies like this and Filth he shines. Highly recommend this movie.

It was okay. The anamorphic parts of the cinematography were garbage.

assassins creed

i think this film is right up.. i mean down there with suicide squad as one of the biggest cinematic disappointments ive had in recent memory. I expected it to be poor, but i wasnt expecting this level of incoherence, sloppiness and downright cringe that i got. When the science lady exclaimed LEAP OF FAITH!!!11111 after he did his little leap off the bridge, i felt my head trying to burrow itself inside my neck, it was just so.. *shudders* oh god.

i wont bother spelling out all the other silly random bullshit that happens (though i will give at least a little shoutout to the brainiacs who thought leaving lying around or actually GIVING weapons to a couple dozen assassins was a good idea), but yeah... utterly shit, and honestly? im not sure i can think of.. well... ANY video-game movies that are worse than this (even squinting very hard at mario bros, i cant quite bring myself to state that its WORSE than this piece of shit)

how ubi thought that this film was going to be their big grand effort to show that videogame movies can be great, ill never understand... especially coming from their previous prince of persia effort which was not only a MILLION miles better than this, it was actually a really fun adventure flick. fuck you ubisoft... how dare you not give us a sequel to that, but instead push on with more of this shit.

Loved it! They nailed the Vietnam vibe and they really got creative with some scenes. Of course the story is somewhat simple, but they did good. Great cast as well! I was surprised this movie was rated PG-13 because some scenes were really disgusting, haha. And, we were the only one left who stayed for the after credits Razz

DOLLA DOLLA DOLLA

I mean the dude also played in Prometheus and the Prometheus v1.1, so it's not like he gives a fuck about screenplays.

It could be that he has a contract that says that he has to star in a couple of movies for the company. Its pretty common that you see actors in movies which you did not expect them to be in cos they have been more or less forced by the company to do so. Good names make people watch even less good movies. Like when Brad Pitt stared in World War Z.

Gladiator

Held up very well. Comodus is a cartoonish villain for sure, and Maximus is honourable to a fault, but that's exactly what I want from a Roman-era spectacle-drama.

Mad Max Fury Road

Still pretty much the perfect car-chase movie.

patriots day

ehhhhhh.. i think it probably could have done with some trimming, and if the final battle was an honest representation of what happened, then holy shit those were some half-ass cops. if it was a dramatization, then they did the officers a disservice, especially that old guy, who frankly stopped bothering to even aim, and just went all wild west on the guy. Cant believe thats what cops, even in them thar olden days of yore, were taught how to fire a weapon. Did an ok job of making me care about those who died or were caught up in it... did a mighty fine job of boiling teh blood as well... pity the film didnt do better (though i can understand why.. it wasnt all that well made)... what these people do and how theyre like, shouldnt be swept under the rug, no matter how hard certain groups try.

Well made, but not a movie you watch for enjoyment (too bad you realise this too late Laughing ). Pretty bleak throughout, and an ending that doesn't provide any catharsis, which is a must for movies like this (in my opinion). Makes you wonder what the point of it all was.
I compare it a bit with Lawless, also with Guy Pearce. Also pretty heavy and without any sympathetic characters, but that one had a better, more rewarding ending I thought.

Same distributors.

But fassbender likes what he's doing.
he enjoys it. It's going to bite him in the ass sooner than later though.
He's good too which will suck. But he's a big name and can do as many shit movies as he wants and get a big paycheque and work with directors he likes working with.

Ass Creed was done by the McBeth guy. And that movie was solid.
Alien movies are done by a Scott.

Heck... even if fassbender were to do a Mann movie next and it would suck. Would you blame him?

He likes working with top tier guys. Shame that the top tier guys often fall the hardest.

Moonlight - ~6ish/10

A well shot movie, and with the potential to be memorable, but it just preferred being like some sort of monotone narcissistic composition instead. After a solid beginning/first half and great performances (especially Mahershalaland Ali and Naomie Harris), it became more banal than brilliant, and the disjointed narrative and editing didn't handle the jumps very well making the journey feel unnatural, although there was a valid reason behind it - playing a persona/hiding the real 'identity' - props to 50cent for being a good sport about it xD
A wasted opportunity in my opinion, and one of the weakest Hollywinrar movies that I can recall.
