The song is called “In Memory of M.R” and it was recorded in one take, 5 minutes before we had to pack up and end the recording session. The musicians had never seen the music sheets before and this is what happened.

Well, seems today's stream was their last Starfish themed one before the release of Utopia. They'll be at EGX Rezzed next week, so they won't have these two on, no idea what they'll do instead. Probably some boring recapping of dev diaries, or something.

Anyhow, I got burned out on the EGX Rezzed stuff last year (the proper show is now in Birmingham and I don't feel like taking a train and get a hotel room just to look at games), but the moment I heard that both Skylines and Stellaris will have their own dev presentation on stage I just had to buy a ticket for that day, since Rezzed is still held in London.

They changed a few QoL stuff here and there (expansion planner for choosing colonizable planets for example), but the first big expansion is about to hit, so that should change quite a bit even for non-buyers. Better factions, government system reworked, new ways to classify slaves and undesirables, etc.

But it's Paradox, so expect some bugs at release.

As for the DLCs, the Leviathan pack is just a couple stories about huge space-dragon thingies. At least last I heard, I don't have that one.
And the other DLC is just a species pack, in case you want some plant-based portraits for your game. Usual Paradox cosmetic DLC.

EDIT: they just finished their stream from EGX.

The stream from EGX.

Apparently they switched out their Stellaris stage presentation with that WW2 strategy game (Martin got sick AFAIK), so I decided I just stay home. All I could do was play the game a bit, but I'll just do that when it comes out instead.

I'm expecting the same as every time I start a new Stellaris game.
Great fun the first 3-4 hours, then tremendous boredom until I quit playing. Still haven't finished a game yet.

The ascension perks and the megastructures should make mid-game more interesting.

Less than an hour left. Registered my key, and now, we wait... Razz

I hope so, it really has the potential to be a fantastic game. Hope they will focus on battles next, the cat and mouse game is very dull and so is the doom stack. They should look to Distant Worlds for a doom stack fix.

The basic gameplay is still very much the same, but the traditions give a goal to work towards mid-to-late game. When the early discovery period is starting to die down, that's when you reach the point where you can start worrying about what ascension path to take. I managed to turn my species into synths at that point, becoming a fully robotic empire. The funny thing is that a nearby fallen empire were fanatic spiritualists, and they hated us for becoming fully mechanical, berating us for killing our souls for the illusion of immortality, etc. Very Happy

Thankfully they didn't attack, we were close enough to irritate them, but far enough to avoid pissing them off too much. Razz

Anyhow, now I'm playing another game as psychics, I really wanna see what they did with the shroud (the game's version of the WH40k Warp, AFAIK).

Sadly an unfortunate AI war cut my empire in half, and since I was playing ironman, there is no save-scumming, and the empire that conquered the other one is just waaaay too big to deal with. I made the mistake of setting the AI empires to about half of the max allowed, and in my region they got way too bloated. Might have to restart.
