Well that patch seems to get rid of some of the shitty animations. Good for the customers But the dialogues seem so bland I honestly thought about getting myself this origin access thingy to finally give the mass effect series (1-3) a shot, but this kind of writing puts me off :/
Did Witcher 3 really raise the bar for me this high?
IMO (and I suspect it's very likely to be only my opinion ), most of the dialog in ME1-3 was acceptably good. The banter between most of your crew is usually top notch, with my personal favourite being with Garus.
I actually liked most of the main crew characters in all 3 games (with the exception of Ashley and Kaiden. Oh and that big gay guy, I forget hi.. James, that's him - he just irritated me.)
And although it has the worst ending in gaming history, most of the story is fine and makes reasonable sense. I would at least give it a go.

I haven't found the courage to play Andromeda for more than a couple of hours (yet ), but I started replaying Mass Effect after almost a decade, it's still such a competent and well-built game. It's just as fun as the first time, the characters and dialogues are always believable and don't insult the player's intelligence, there's wit and the right amount of drama, no unnecessary hollyoomphness, it just oozes atmosphere. The combat has aged well too as far as I'm concerned, never flashy (a plus, along with the less focus on the cover system that partially ruined the sequels for me) but straight to the point and with the basic team management required on higher difficulty settings.
It's far from being perfect of course, but even in its weak spots one can tell that the game has a precise mission and a fascinating scope. The fact that it was designed for a target audience of normal people, instead of the current 'Disney channel meets tumblr' hybrid obviously has a huge impact on..everything.
And it's still technically valid, there are clearly low-res textures/low-poly assets here and there but with the MEUITM + downsampling + Reshade + HBAO via drivers and tweaked FOV/inis it's

That right there is a main reason that ME:A is just stupid. I know it just wasn't possible, but if the original crew who developed ME1 and 2 could have done 3 and A, it would have probably rocked. As it is, the unbelievably ridiculous LBGTQetc crap shoehorned into the game because some of the higher managers had 'Issues®' just utterly, utterly ruins the game. (although I really find it amusing, that out of all the 'sex' scenes in the game, the only one that is from what I understand to be the most.. shall we say, 'fleshed out', is the one between 2 straight people, with a white female...)
I keep playing, and I keep sighing. Landscapes and asset visuals continue to impress. Just the awful animations and I STILL can't get over the fact the only humans we put into deep freeze appear to be pygmies. I don't care about 'correct proportion' - they look like they have slight verticallity issues.

It looks like everyone is trying to save on power bills by wandering around with all the lights off. Do all you reshade people have your monitor brightness cranked up to max or something?
Back to the topic at hand, I just finished it. The end was kind of odd and anticlimactic. Although it was no ME3 space ghost three colour ending at least. I guess it was another example of following the template of DAI, but more incompetently.
I'm not really sure what to make of it. Leaving aside all the technical issues, the whole premise and plot didn't do it for me. There were so many stupid elements, I found myself often yelling at the screen and suffering strain from excessive eye rolling. And the pacing and progression is thrown off by virtue of the completely unnecessary open world elements. Of the characters, Drack was the stand-out. It's pretty hard to hate a Krogan, despite the writers best attempts to make them suddenly all warm and cuddly. None of the others did much for me. I think people would gladly pay money for a DLC that allowed you to brutally murder Liam. But despite all that, there is at least a kernel of an idea of a good game buried in MEA. The concept of flying around space, exploring planets and so forth appeals to me, and I think as someone else mentioned earlier there's just enough in it that can keep you playing, irrationally hoping for a decent game to eventually appear.
Edit: Oh, and another thing. The music was one of the best elements of ME1-3. I don't even remember MEA having music, which says a lot about its quality.
Yeah, the dialogues are bad and clearly written by people with different writing skills, which Dir Anderson is the best example. Her lines are done by someone who clearly had strokes every three words.
Some dialogues aren't even fluid and turn into some "not-making-sense" conversation.
The worst part is you have to cringe through it because sometimes they let into side quest...

It's the amateurish writing that almost singlehandedly breaks the game, imagine this was made by Obsidian instead.
With all the bugs and fetch quests still there but actually having good writing. I'm certain it would have gotten much better user reviews.
Indeed that was the main reason for deleteing this pos for me...but not just the writing, the events too...comes to mind on that harvald planet where you kill all the miniarmy of that dude with the memory dream or whatever and then " let me earn your trust"
There's so much filler shit to do here. Indeed the dialogues are bland, the whole game leaves the impression of being superficial, perfect for nowadays young gamers. Gfx wise isn't at the top either.
It's interesting how those who have now experienced the game (via the crack or otherwise) largely draw the same conclusions. Despite "have you played it?" being used as a substitute for a real argument when these issues were as plain as day. Hopefully we can put that shitty logic to bed for future games...

I'm 12h in according to saves.
- companion AI is shit, it's no good for anything, the characters get stuck into geometry or run aimlessly in combat trying to get into melee distance
- the skills are worth shit, too; at least the tech ones; turret is useless, the lightning and invasion do shit damage, the lightning one at least takes down the shields
- crafting is useless I get better stuff from loot than I can craft, usually due to level restrictions or lack of needed resources

Crafting is actually better. The itemization is bad anyway since there are no unique items and everything has the same icon, name, skin, etc. and items found generate no excitement because you can craft them anyway.

Agree, i still didn't find a single character i'd care so far 15h in. There's a dialog with the black dude in which he states how out of ideas they were, like "yeah, i know the old stereotype of cop that doesn't play by the rules and join the military is beaten to death" or something like this. And fuck, it's EXACTLY what Garrus was all about on ME1. Maybe on "Andromeda 2" he becomes some crazy vigilante

I imagine this and a couple other comments are aimed in my general direction
Firstly, I'd never pay real money for this - I AM a filthy pirate after all. Just a 'refined' one who will spend money occasionally
I literally mean I have nothing better to do. I have no games right now I want to play. I don't leave the house, and right now (apart from the F1 race) there's sod all on TV.
So I play the game, to see if I could possibly find SOMETHING to find good, something that might negate my opinions, as I am always willing to change my mind and admit I could be slightly incorrect
So far.. nope. SO much potential, wasted on the reasons repeated earlier.
