Until they offer some proof or at least name themselves, they are completely untrustworthy and should not be acknowlaged. You can't just believe everything that people say. For all you know that blog writer is a dick of a person who got sacked after a month at Crysis and now has a grudge against them.

Not saying you should. The point I was trying to make is that you should neither trust them completely nor disregard them completely.
There could, for all we know, be at least something to those allegations. On the other hand it's possible it's enitrely horseshit.
But if you take a look at how the industry works I believe there is at least some truth to the accusations.

i ve done crunch because i fucked up on my own or i wanted to finish something and didnt check the time. That CAN be good, it usually isnt though. Also, when a boss does give you jobs you cant finish on time in unstructured environments without actually having a clue how long stuff takes can be "bad".
But gaming industry crunch time for actual game testers usually is pre-planned horror and shows a failure in planning ahead by the execs. In compliance testing for the big console companies, it is harder to avoid though, as the workload in the time before christmas or before console releases is very hard to actually estimate.
so yes, fuck crunch time. In any orifice it has. |
