If you have 4.05(7?) and below you can access the exploit using the web one that got released days a go.

I am not really sure what FW it got patched so don't update anymore you are..

The kernel Works up to 4.50, but the entry point was patched after 4.07 so 4.50 will have to wait for new userland exploit .
So yea don't update past 4.07(or 4.06 for now as it seems it's optimized for 4.06 for now).

Wait so what does this mean. If they've got the entry point and the kernel hack, is there anything actually holding them back from finding a way to play backups?

The PS4 has separate CPU called SAMU for encryption, and it's hard to pawn it even with kernel exploit, however, it should still be possible to be forced to decrypt stuffs, but it should be limited as long you don't pawn it..
So you should be limited up to the FW you hacked the console when it comes to games.. as long people don't find further exploit or pawn the encryption..
People managed to decrypted FIFA 15 PS4 using PS4 1.76 and even run "backups" on devkits.. The only thing that left is to write "backups" loader.. but 1.76 system are very limited.. So by extend its limiting the hackers that works on it.
VITA with henkaku (a console that considered more "Secured" then PS4) got backups around month after it got hacked, I don't see any reason for PS4 not getting backups with kernel access.. assuming it will be on FW that is widely accessible.

Don't hold your breath... qwertyoruiop is known for not releasing his exploits, or releasing them until the exploit has long been patched.
Not saying it'll be the same here, just warning you not to get your hopes up too soon.

Luca/Qwertyoruiop is not the first hacker to "hack" the PS4..
It seems quite odd the hackers claims that they hacked the PS4 but not releasing their exploit, but they are not some random guys on youtube, They actually released enough evidence to backup their claims...
Qwertyoruiop released jailbreak for iOS and webkit exploit for PS4, Failoverflew released a way to load linux on PS4.. assuming you have access to the kernel.

As I said above, Luca is known for releasing an exploit only when he has a "backup one". Basically, he always wants "private access" to the things he hacks. It was like that for his notorious iOS jailbreaks.
So basically, you guys will have to wait until he finds a second exploit, only then he'll release this one.
