A 700 MB patch was released, updated the game exe and added another file ( re_chunk_000.pak.patch_002.pak ) though there's no patch notes but the DLC achievements are up now since a few days ago so it's probably related to that.
(Jack's 50th Birthday, Daughter and that Survival mode and then that Not a Hero thing.)
I would say it's ok... Not nearly as iconic as re4 or remake/1 or 2.
But I only watched 10 minutes of this video some days ago

Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"

Not regarding the clickbait title (it's indeed amazing if compared with 5 or 6, but "only" a great game on its own) but on only watching 10 min.
It's ragnarrox, the guy makes some amazing content

Probably though they finally posted a changelog and yeah it was almost completely just for DLC support and then a single bug fix involving the mouse cursor.
On the other hand only having to fix a handful of issues means the game was in a pretty good state on release already, or they're just not putting much effort into post-release support besides DLC.
these 2 dlcs are so stupid and they even cost 25e lol, these things you would usually get when you complete the main game and not have to pay for it.
the prequel episode was good but its less than 30min, also there is a nice puzzle episode, should have been more like these instead of your runtime shooting survival crap
Couple of images Capcom released with Chris Redfield to promote the upcoming DLC:
Quote:
Chris Redfield returns in the free “Not A Hero” DLC for #RE7 this Spring. Who or what is he chasing? Find out soon in this separate story.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Oh right, forgot about that part. Good thing that Chris Roidfield is no more, even better would be that they also leave everything from 6 (and even 5's) roidfield behind.
So please crapcom, don't make his DLC some balls out action tacticool specops team BS

I thought that was Hunk from RE2 finally making an official appearance otherwise Capcom has got to explain why Chris under the knife
It's a tech decision. RE7 uses photogrammetry for its characters, meaning the characters look exactly like they dudes and gals they cast to play them.
The process:
Quote:
Chris looks like that because that's how the dude they cast looks like. There was no actor/model on whom the previous version on Chris was based on, in order to cast them again and keep the same look.
That's all there is to it.
Here are the major characters from RE7:
Jack:
Marguerite:
Lucas:
Mia:
Zoe:
Eveline:
(There are more you can find online, including Ethan himself, the Sewer Gators trio, and more.)
And here is Chris Redfield:
Now as to why they didn't cast someone that looks like they could punch a boulder like RE5+ era Chris, they have said multiple times that RE1 (not even REmake) was the game that was the inspiration behind this one, and I don't think the dude they cast looks that dissimilar to his RE1 appearance.

Q: I was also hoping you could speak to some of the influences you've looked to, inside and outside of video games, as you've brought this new chapter in Resident Evil together.
There are influences through. There's a particular work that influenced the game, but if I tell you what it is it will spoil the story. So I'd like you to imagine that.
The key art is a big hint. (Author's note: Pictured at the top of this post.) Also, people who play the demo get a t-shirt that has a kind of ink blot type of design on it, and that contains many clues about that.
Reading into that, you might be able to make some assumptions or guesses about where some of the influences came from.
The Blair Witch Project? Dunno, that's what the shirt reminds me of. After all the "basement" scene from the movie was totally in the demo and the VHS / first-person camera could also been seen as being inspired by the "found footage" aspect of BW.
But why would it be a spoiler? I can't think of anything about that movie's plot that could spoil what happens in RE7. So maybe, it's something else? Any ideas?
At the start of the presentation, Nakanishi told the audience that the Japanese working title for Resi 7 was ‘Harawata’, which translates to ‘guts’. That makes more sense once you hear the torso anecdote, but Harawata also forms part of the Japanese name for the Evil Dead movies—which was another key inspiration.
Nakanishi said they wanted to capture the same claustrophobic vibe as the first film, which meant confining the action to an abandoned house and limiting the number of antagonists to four or five characters. These of course eventually became the deranged Baker family.
Quote:
Given that Takeuchi had given them free reign, but also warned that delays would not be tolerated, it was a stressful time. Nakanishi’s solution for those who were worried was to tell them to be more like Sam Raimi, and embrace the limitations they faced.

Resident Evil 7 is at the highest point the main series has been since the fourth. The game is closer to the first two titles than some might notice while accommodating a visual presentation that might be familiar to those who played Outlast or Alien: Isolation. The so called isolated view is the wildcard that’s setting this game apart creating terror in a universe where there was little room left for fear. The resulting package is a short and horrifyingly sweet ride of emotions that by the end leaves you wanting more of its overdosing adrenaline shots.
I’m not keen on the Season Pass DLCs coming shortly after the game's release or how by the end the story seems to lean again towards absurdity but I can’t deny this game’s qualities. Resident Evil 7 is an excellent start to a potentially great gaming year and I’m looking forward for the free DLC “Not a Hero” to get a glimpse into this series’ future.
Played it, got scared, turned off my PS4, went for a little drink then resumed it at 2:00 AM in the night. Amazing experience. The best horror game that I've played yet
That's good news in my books. I wasn't expecting some high quality DLC in such a short period of time. If this DLC is going to be the gateway with the main story and probably a prologue for future games, I'd rather wait for a better experience.
Hahaha. You can tell they had no friggin idea if RE7 will be a success. The other DLCs came out pretty fast and I bet that "Not a Hero" thing was finished for quite a while too but super short and complete trash... this was supposed to be free from the getgo and this is still fucking Capcom we're talking about here... that's what I base the "short and trash" part on.
So, fast forward, they pulled the brakes and change it up because it would tarnish what they accomplished with RE7.
What the fuck, I apparently completely missed this game Is it any good? And what is it comparable too? I haven't much time to play any games these last years... so the last horror game I played was Alien and Amnesia (and I finished neither, they were great but I simply had other games to play... and I can't play them for more than 1hour at a time )

It is good indeed, the best Resident Evil since the original trilogy for me. It combines the immersive creepy first person formula from the titles that you mentioned with the traditional elements of the franchise (shooting, puzzles, inventory management, meaningful exploration etc.), it's a combo that works very well. Overall it's not a complex game by any means, but requires a minimum amount of dedication to be fully enjoyed.
...and for Beelzebub's sake, install and finish Amnesia and Alien Isolation too one day
@Vurt: yup, in theory there's an exclusivity deal that lasts one year, but..who knows really. (There haven't been updates about that recently as far as I know)
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
