Pitt, who’s returning to star in and produce the next “World War Z” installment, recently met with a handful of other directors, but is said to be zeroing in on Fincher for the pic, which is expected to start filming in early 2017.
Skydance and Paramount had no comment on the development.
According to sources, Fincher and Pitt met two weeks ago to discuss the possibility of Fincher boarding the zombie tentpole. The talks were initially lukewarm, but sources now tell Variety that negotiations are much further down the road and that other director currently has an offer.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
im sure they'll come up with something.. maybe it wasnt the cure they thought it was.. maybe it was something else that they jumped to a conclusion over (not the disease itself but another set of unique situations, where they correlated things that werent universal, etc)...
or maybe the zombies were ignoring the sickos because there was so much nicer, clean meat to chew on.. sequel might be set a year or so into the zombie war, where the 'protected' military are still mopping things up, but without anything for the zombies to hunt, they start going after humans who have been given diseases to protect them, thus making the protection ineffectual any more...
could be anything really. its fuggin zombies! ANYTHING GOES!
The first one was a terrible piece of trash and smothered the name with shit. They should've called it "Superman With Super Aids Fucks Zombie Apocalypse Right Up The Butt".
The only way to make something good out of the book would've been a 8-10 part mini series on HBO or Netflix.
As a zombie flick the first one was decent I guess... they shouldn't have called it World War Z though. Wonder if the second one will be more in line with the book or just some small references like they did in the first one.
But yeah the book would be a lot better in a mini series format. Just use the stories as is without trying to make it procedural. Maybe band of brothers style... starts of with an interview and flows into the episode.
For fucks sake. Noooooooooo. Just fucking no.
There is no reason to make a second World War Z movie since the even the first one had absolutely fuckall to do with the book.
And it's not like there wasn't material in the book that would make a good movie. The retaking of America first battle of which takes place near the town of Hope.
Castle sieges, clearing out crypts under Paris, defecting Chinese nuclear submarines.
And thats just 1% of what happens
And they come up with Pitt running around for 90 minutes.
Cunts
Fincher might be what this movie/franchise needs to leave the 'it was alright but it could have been so much better' limbo.
They should definitely improve the CGI as well, despite the high budget the first one had moments that seemed to come from the classic mid-90s FMVs :3
@Vai:
I haven't read the book so I'm just Jon Snowing around
Agreed.. the original WWZ book is... chilling.. One of the best in the genre and could not literally stop reading it it was that good! I'd actually rather wish a PROPER WWZ be done as a high-production value mini-series so it concentrates on those utterly amazing segments in the book.

Indeed i saw that one coming, but i`m into rewatching a few films i saw a while back in shit quality. I have a proper HT now you see. (Hate the Cinema and all "you" fuckers).
That said, i`ll get the book and read it when i go on vacation this winter. Always bring a book for those sun and beach destinations. Nothing happens on these trips during the day.
And maybe it will help if it gets to hot, since its so "chilling"
David Fincher is set to direct and Brad Pitt to return to star in the upcoming sequel to zombie epic “World War Z” at Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.
New Paramount CEO and chairman Jim Gianopulos, who has a long-standing relationship with Fincher, has not officially official greenlit the movie yet, he is expected to do so in coming weeks. Production would probably begin in the first quarter of 2018.

I really mean that.. I'm sick of the shitty oscar bait crap he's been doing lately (though I did really like gone girl) so finally seeing him back to a more action style event picture, and doing another project with brad Pitt? Jesus Im so tucking happy if this actually happens.
you mean take a shitty failure of a production, and manage to make a really really great movie out of it, with fantastic atmosphere?
anyway, i quite liked wwz. it had a nice mix of thriller/horror and action, and i quite enjoyed the mystery side of it as well, traveling to try and find a source of the infection while the world starts turning to shit.
plus.. yeah.. was really neat to see how they did the zombies, its not something id ever seen before. watching them hurl themselves teeth first, completely oblivious to danger or their own death, was.. pretty damn terrifying, really... rather than just the usual running zombies.
yeah and ill stand by that.. alien 3 was a really really solid alien movie - can only imagine what it could have been if fox had its shit together and supported fincher.
alien resurrection was shit, prometheus had fuckin ridley scott and a really nice sized budget, but id still much rather sit down and watch alien 3 any day of the week.

David Fincher’s upcoming “World War Z” sequel has reportedly been scrapped by Paramount Pictures, the studio reportedly pulling the plug on the project last night says The Playlist.
