They added a bit of story a while back. Curing some kind of infection, and shutting down alien cannons, ruins, etc. But it's mostly just surviving and building a kickass base (or multiple bases in cool locations).

@prudislav Will wait it out on this update, the Sub has been extremely weak in the preview, so I'd hate having it get destroyed by some random enemies in the large depths there.

Subnautica was always cool, even if you ran out of gameplay after some hours.

But try it in VR and its a completely different beast. They finally fixed some critical VR bugs and i gotta say, its THE game to show what VR can do in a lengthy fully fleshed game (well, as fleshed at it is right now...)

Tried it in VR for a while, it's really nice. Gonna wait some more though, prefer to spend time with it when it's more complete.

I think that was caused by the duplicate wreck bug, but that has been fixed, no?

Also, the game is truly amazing in terms of exploring/discovering, both above and below sea and building stuff etc.

Really worth buying, imho.

Yeah the performance is still terrible. In fact they've delayed release of the game till the end of the year to focus on fixing it.

I'm playing this on my i5-2500k and its fine, no stuttering but is is on the SSD I have. Once they fixed the wreckage bug things have been good. Its a nice calm relaxing game for the most part with the odd "fucking hell" moment when I find a monster I havent seen before.

Some of you might want to try to "reset" the game world by deleting the terrain cache, this helped me get a few fps more and stay up to date on everything they added to it.

I do. Have 60+fps most times but the popin and stuttering is awful once you leave the early areas and start moving quickly with the submarine. Even on an SSD.

Hence why they delayed the release almost half a year citing optimisation Twisted Evil

I've finished everything in the up to date version and i'm absolutely loving the game but i have a feeling it will lack a lot of content when it's done. The available sea area becomes small really fast and i would love to see it at least 10 times as big. I really hope they will improve on that part.

if it lacks content it's probably too big already, and you want it 10x as big? They should probably focus on the area they have, fill it with content, then perhaps do an expansion.

I played it just a few weeks ago but the bugs put me off playing it. I had to install a beta to get rid of a game-breaking bug and that beta was littered with other bugs too - it's a relatively fun game but one I'll only go back to after it's gotten some more work done.

Why would they need to fill it with content if i can go from one side of the map to the other in like 3/4 minutes?

It has enough content so far. More than 90% of other "EA's" even. Of course for someone like Lathieza who has done everything in the end game, new updates only add "minor" stuff in comparision. Then again that's what you pretty much get if you finish a game that isn't done.
