Gameplay depth? No it's pretty streamlined though then again so was Bioshock I suppose.

There's hacking but it's guiding a marker to a designated area while the controls are fighting against you so it's very basic, shooting is pretty staightforward when it comes to combat and I don't think there's alternate ammo types though you do have a variety of tech weapons ("foam gun" for example.) in addition to more traditional security weapons (Like the ever present shotgun, two even if you own the pre-order bonus.) and enemies are pretty much charging straight for you with the gimmick of these mimic foes occasionally breaking off pursuit and disguising as random bits of clutter...but the game pulls this loud "haunting" (annoying) music whenever one is near so you're never really surprised when it actually does decide to pop up.

Tons of log files and other data fill in the backstory and while I don't think you can research you can upgrade your character via a variety of slottable "chips" providing various benefits as well as these skillpoint items that enable passive enhancements from just being healthier (And having a longer natural life span.) to being more effective with recycling items to components or being able to hack more challenging mini-games.
(Well more repetitive, a lv.1 mini-game hack needs you to reach the sweet spot once whereas a lv.4 needs it to be done four times.)

It's a fun little shooter but it's not a very complex game though I'm interested in seeing how the story will develop and what sorts of twists and turns will present themselves or how to say.
(John K already made a surprise reveal pretty early on, apparently he wasn't quite dead.)

EDIT: Well what else is there to say, there's a ton of items you can pick up even if much of it just exists to recycle into basics that can then be used to craft things you really want, there's a crap ton of junk on this station it seems and everything can be recycled as can other non-standard items if you get a bit creative.
(There's a variety of grenade type items including one for recycling objects in the vicinity of the blast.)

Achievements also make it seem like there's different paths you can take through the game with choices and such but I don't know if that means anything or if it's just small differences in what sort of epilogue the game has. I don't think it'll amount to much but i could be wrong.

Also seems like you're free to traverse back and forth as you want through the areas but they are divided into separately loaded segments though so far it doesn't seem like you get locked out of backtracking but that could still come up later on in the game.

Nothing yet, that comes a bit later from what I've read so thus far I've only been using the regular skills and upgrades.

I do look forward to seeing how the mimic abilities will work though, well the actual name for these beings was something else but goo alien doesn't sound as good. Very Happy

EDIT: It's probably not too far into the game in actuality but I'm progressing through it pretty slowly since I have to pick each area completely clean before advancing further, there's probably no real need to but there's some extra items and such to discover by poking around.
(Trying to pick up some of the little side missions as well that get added as you loot the area.)

EDIT: Kinda funny how a slimy blob can be so dangerous come to think of it, kinda thought the same back with Crysis 2 and it's silicon (Well, gelatinous.) based life forms from outer space but those slimes had exo skeletons.

...Course if you're dumb enough to swallow one that's a different story. Very Happy

So I got it afterall since D and this game seems good. Even quite cheaper than Bob asking price Very Happy

Anyone playing with controller? Or is it a good solid pc game to be played with mouse ? This days I don't even try mouse since its usually crap and games are better built around controller layout

and Facepalm bethesda.

Pretty sure it's the same folder too since the game is simply installed to the "Prey" directory, bit of a miss but I doubt they even considered that.

Though what else could they call it, Prey_2017 perhaps?

Mouse movement feels sluggish for me, probably because I can't maintain solid 60fps but neither could I do it in Dishonored 2, and there the mouse felt better Surprised

Good game, i like how the enemies move and zap around. The Dark Soulesque shortcut system is well done too, they really put some effort in designing the levels. Comes pretty close to what a modern System Shock could be.
