wonder if this will be actually good or like the last 2 seasons.
i hope for the best, cause there was something in it like atmosphere but all the "wtf is going on" moments and all that weird shit, which was just over the top and not mystery at all made it just not watchable.

If I understand correctly, episodes (or hours) 3 and 4 are already available through streaming. Now I'm just waiting for them.

As far as Episode 1 (hour 1&2) goes, I enjoyed it. It felt like it moved soooooooooooo slowly right at the very beginning, but afterward I was hooked. Also, this remains relevant:

Reading impressions and reactions this looks to be more divisive than FWWM!

I've read all kinds of things, ranging from "Twin Peaks in name only, absolute trash" to "the most terrifying work Lynch has ever done". Can't wait to watch them myself once I finish the last episodes of 12 Monkeys!

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Last two seasons? It only has two seasons..

"Weird shit"? Um, it's a series by David Lynch.. so it would probably not make sense to believe that things should make perfect sense. Also S2 hinted where it was heading so it should not come as a surprise to anyone who watched S2. His work is mostly comparable to nightmares, you can spend a lot of time trying to decrypt such things, if you believe they must make sense.

Loved S3E01 btw Smile Didn't feel very Twin Peak'ish perhaps (90's was a whole different time, so obviously it won't feel like a 90's TV series), but still great and what you'd expect. I don't think i would want something like the 90's Twin Peaks, that would be very cheesy by today's standards, to say the least.

I don't think anyone does mystery as well as Lynch, and he's one of few who could totally get away with things not making any sense at all, just because of how well made it is. He should have directed Lost Very Happy

Is the intro of ep1 the same in all episodes? I won't watch the episodes yet, I only downloaded the first to check the intro.

This is so boring The original series' intro was iconic, with the sign, the bird, the waterfall, the sawing mill, etc. And now there's just the waterfall and the red room floor?!

i know that it has only 2 seasons.
they could have reboot it with the same actors without being "all over the top-wierd-not mystery at all" that was what i was hoping for.
because like i said i liked the atmosphere, the setting and i was wondering what happened to her. could live with all the family drama elements and bein cheesy but not with this weird stuff which just didn't make any sense.

it's just stupid to decrypt something which isn't meant to be decrypted because it's just made to confuse people and not make any sense at all. it's not art or anything. how can anyone praise this guy.
why should have he done lost? lost atleast tried to make some sense.

Yeah, do not get used to them airing multiple episodes of it, the beginning was an exception.

They aired the first 2 only actually, but the 3rd and 4th were made available on Showtime's streaming service to get people interested in it. Next week they air the 3rd and 4th together, for those that haven't seen them. And the following week they air the 5th, the next one the 6th, and so on, so it will take months to finish, it's not a Netflix type of thing at all they are doing or what Syfy did the third season of 12 Monkeys (all 10 episodes aired in 3 consecutive nights).

Is the first episode counted as episodes 1 and 2? I can't seem to find a decent link to e02.

Here's hoping it will not be some Terrence Malick-like, pretentious bunch of images without content.

its made to confuse, entertain, scare and involve the viewer, and he makes it work. that is an art for sure i'd say, few could to that.

it's perfectly fine not liking it at all, i can totally understand that. there's lots of genres (music, tv series, art) that doesn't involve or entertain me the least.

wow, so 4 episodes at once.. Shocked had no idea until i read here.

Lost and Twin Peaks are leagues apart, freiwald. Lynch by himself is an adquired taste, and one that I've had developed over the years. At my late teens I despised the guy, being as cryptical as he is, but after a while started to get the overall sense of it. Not that you need to understand anything, the man himself admits that he likes to put some thought-provoking (and some vague I must add) elements but that it doesn't necessarily fit everyone. Lost was a product well tailored (even if I don't like it), but it's on another type of context-way of thinking-abstraction method.

To each his own, you don't need to like it. Hard to stomach for sure. I surely do like him though Smile

They aired as one, but on streaming and downloading services they are two separate, as this is how they were produced.

Ideally you want them separate because I'm sure those services offer them in higher quality and without logos.

Twin.Peaks.S03E01.1080p.WEBRip.X264-DEFLATE to S03E04 are widely available.

And Amazon rips started showing up:

Twin.Peaks.S03E01.The.Return.Part.1.1080p.AMZN.WEBRip.DD5.1.x264-NTb (and 720), but probably they will be able to release only the first 2 episodes, as the other 2 are as I understand exclusive to Showtime's service until they officially air them next week.

OK... that is way too weird so far.
and every single character is super super strange. Even the old cast is a parody of themselves. Lucy is not funny. She is now super retarded. Not sure if she is suppose to be retarded or funny.

I don't know how to feel about any of this. but this might be the point ....

edit: Ok I kinda understand it all after watching all 4 episodes

A wild Michael Cera appears!

I didn't follow news regarding this at all, so imagine my suprise. Laughing

Haha episode 4 was so great with Michael Cera and machahlalclanan's acting was also great.
The retardation is going strong on so many levels Laughing

I think Lucy and her boyfriend always were a bit retarded when you think about it (Lucy more so perhaps), but yes, in previous seasons this was done much more cute and subtle, now, not so much. I might have preferred that part a bit more subtle to be honest.

I've laughed a lot more than i thought it would though, so many funny and WTF moments Very Happy

Lynchian: 1000%
Quality: 70%
Hooked: 100%

Yes, but preferably so in the 90's.. not sure how Twin Peaks S1-S2 works for a younger crowd (if you are young 18-25 or so), it'll probably seem odd and really cheesy.

Im young and I watched first 2 seasons a few years ago. Still one of my all time favourites ^^ Tho season 2 did decline a lot in the middle only to rise from the ashes in the end. The new season is 100% Lynch, but I feel it's much more like his movies than Twin Peaks.
And yeah, they could tone down with the retardation and make it more subtle. :/ Otherwise I'm hooked.

Prepare to be disappointed mid-season to be dragged into an excellent finale. Gosh, I wish I could watch it all brand-new again...

That's interesting to know. It's difficult to grasp what someone younger would think of it.

Anyone else a bit amused by the often really bad effects? Makes me think of early CD-ROM FMV games almost. I saw a discussion on another forum, people being disappointed in the effects. I'm quite sure it's done like that on purpose, especially for scenes where you know it's done on a computer and you will look very critically at it because of it. So just Lynch trolling the viewer, or perhaps putting the viewer out of balance a bit by doing some CGI very poorly and some very realistic (for scenes that you aren't watching with the "its just computer-effects"-critical eye).

It's in line with the "bad" visual presentations of everything Lynch has done "recently" with Inland Empire and his web projects.

so inland empire was like that too, i can't remember, been years since i saw it.. should probably rewatch..

it's kind of all over the place visually.. some of the cgi almost makes me think of Zdzisław Beksiński.
