Hmm what else could I say, I guess put simply the game offers something like a tactical sandbox experience, large levels with multiple approaches for reaching the main objective and there's also secondary objectives and the player is free to choose his approach and select whatever loadout he/she wishes though the AI can be a bit wonky which drags the experience down somewhat even if the game doesn't try to sell itself as a full on sim and you might also want to reduce the kill camera frequency as unlike the now separated Nazi Zombie installment you are not battling the skeletal hordes of the third Reich although the first couple of times you see the damage model and the detail they've gone into with this it is quite impressive.
(The exit and entry wounds from the original Sniper Elite would have been a nice touch though instead of just blood decals and damage textures / pain skins as they're also sometimes called.)
With V.2 you had various parts of war torn Berlin to explore though the maps weren't all that big but it worked pretty well and presented some interesting urban warfare with some variation in locations outside the city itself.
V.3 had more expansive maps though maybe a bit less cluttered or how to say though you did still encounter some bases or other fortifications as you traversed the games various missions or levels.
And now with V.4 they've retained the larger levels but they're also more densely populated and detailed with even the "small" island the game starts at providing a variety of scenarios from ruined fortifications, shoreline cliffs and there's even a smaller village for close quarters fighting or you could set up on a overlook and pick your enemies off from a distance, more opportunities for very long range kills too although as a video game that's still a bit compacted although shots from over a hundred meters away is still pretty spectacular even if the real-life versions of these rifles could do better than that.
Can't quite disable all the helpers such as overly obvious enemy scope glares or item highlighting either though you can remove some of it even if a lot is tied into a single difficulty option ranging from cadet (easy) to authentic (v.hard) without much info n what each of these difficulty levels for hud assistance really disables.
(Enemy tagging is also a thing even on the higher difficulty levels, they should at least have it fade out after a while to simulate movement or the player no longer keeping tabs on where that particular enemy is.)
Full on 60 USD / EUR might be a bit much though but eh that's true for a lot of games these day's and there are alternative store fronts besides Steam itself even if some developers (Rebellion among them.) are trying to restrict key sellers or trading.
EDIT: Oh and the voice acting can be a bit forced, it can work in some games but eh I'm not too sold on how the main character speaks though it has been like that since Sniper Elite V2
I give up on this game..... its completely broken POS. I've tried everything to go really silent kill everytime with a sound mask, separated targets and all, but it just can't work specially at the end of first mission near the villa. I go upstairs kill single guy from behind no one around in 50m radius and 10 sec later 3 guys wen't yellow and started searching going upstairs i killed all camp 1 by 1 there
Going berserk mode to finish in 3-4h and delete this crap.

@demde
I tried going stealth in Sniper 3 too every mission.
It never really lasted long, because the AI smelled me always at some time.
After that i just rained down head- and ballshots on everyone - till the next mission.

I'm having fun with it. Finished 6th mission last night, just basically taking my time. Not really doing the collectible thing. But using distance and sound mask whenever I fire. The sound suppression ammo is a nice touch but not sure if that's even a thing? When you switch out to that ammo, the rifle and pistol have suppressors on them lol.

Wut?
Most games nowdays have that feature since launch.
And why the have this stated as being in alpha-state still?
I mean, there are several good working and free tools out there, that can turn a windowed game into fullscreen-borderless.

Different ways for doing windowed, fullscreen and then borderless modes so there's probably some methods for screwing up said display mode too perhaps even more so with a lower-level API like D3D12 (or Vulkan) though I don't know, you'd think it would be pretty straightforward but if you use something like SRWE for managing windowed display mode (Short for Simple Resolution Window Editor) you can see there's a crap ton of different settings.
This probably also ties in to how some games when you set a higher resolution they natively downsample, others just stretch the image and others crops it. (And a few crash.)
I'm no expert on WDDM, DXGI, DirectX and render bla bla, Windows API's and what not in general though but yeah "it's complicated." would probably be the short version though I guess implementing a basic borderless mode shouldn't be too difficult.
...And then we have differences with Windows such as how Windows 8 and newer solve issues from Windows 7 and older which can impact performance in windowed or borderless mode compared to fullscreen and features like buffer swaps, caches and flipping which well I know the terms but their in-depth functionality is something I'm not too up to date on how exactly it all works.
(Windows 8 for example allows for flip ques which can improve latency in windowed and borderless mode, Windows 10 adds to this with flip que discarding which well it does something too heh.)
In the end though from the users point of view the game is now fullscreen windowed with no visible display borders and that's pretty much it.
