Watched this last night with the missus. Both of us enjoyed it. Take your brain out of your head before watching and you'll enjoy it.

*Make sure you watch until the very end of the credits Wink

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Dammit there's a scene after the credits?! Missed that! :/

Pretty enjoyable but somewhat cliched monster fest.
Had some great action and visual effects though.

Saw it yesterady and tbh I liked it Smile

Visually rather good and superawesome soundtrack. I wasn't expecting some deep story so I wasn't disappointed Razz Thank god they didn't put some stupid lovestory into it. Speaking of which - Hiddleston only has one pose for standing it seems Very Happy C Reily's character was awesome, I really liked the guy Smile

Solid 7/10

So which version do you lot prefer? This one or King Kong (2005)?

I've just watched the trailer.. lots of action, monsters and shit.. it doesn't seem to have a lovely story the previous film had and it doesn't have Naomi Watts.. Laughing

Even with all of its dodgy effects (dat dino stampede) and bloated running time, Peter Jackson's Kong was way better than this drivel.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the Peter Jackson one. The length could have been trimmed down, but overall, it delivers on the complete King Kong experience. The whole Island creation was marvelous. Also, PJ's Kong at least had some emotions on it's face. This movie pretty much turned Kong into a serious rage filled monster. Don't even get me started with Samuel "motherfucking" Jackon's inclusion. Mad

Just watched and really liked this movie.
Peter Jackson's King Kong is definitely the truer and more complete story but this was very enjoyable in its own right. (8/10)

Yeah, liked this one more. Good that they ditched the "love story" between the monkey and the woman.

Didn't see this one yet, but it seems to be a straight up action movie, like your ordinary super boring Godzilla movie. I doubt it comes even close to the atmosphere of Peter Jackson's movie.

King Kong should be rather dark and depressing, bordering to horror, i thought Jackson did that just right, it had the right feel.

I'll take a look once 3D version is out.

What a mediocre shit movie, it's like they aren't even trying.
A waste of a setting. And the fucking lizards were the least interesting animals, great job making them the stars. Laughing

I don't know anything about this movie.
I didn't read anything about it, including your comments.
I think that anyone that looks at this title thinking "I might watch this" for any other purpose than a good laugh should be shot.

Jackson's 2005 adaptation had its own share of flabbiness and many unnecessary dragging moments, but for me it felt like a 'proper' movie, whereas this one clearly had other priorities. At some point I expected the Sharknado to pop up as well and close the circle of life Poker Face

It was a mess. Got so bored. The director seemed to focus on getting "cool" camera angles rather than making a good movie. Must have went to the Michael Bay directing school, only missed some more explosions..

well i will say that it had a very distinct visual style, making it border on artificial to the point it made the film seem very surreal - i actually liked it, i think it worked well for an adventure/fantasy story. Reminds me a lot of the look the hobbit had going for it.

as for the film itself - i think it wasnt sure what kind of tone it wanted to take. At times it felt like it was going for an over the top high fantasy style adventure, full of silly scenarios and comical characters (which would have really suited the poor writing and the retarded actions of some of the people) - and THAT would have been a neat film to watch. But then at other times it seems like it wanted to be taken seriously, and provoke emotional scenarios but the director lacked the talent to make those sequences fit in the silly comic-book style mood he created.

too dumb to be a serious action/thriller... too serious to work as a fun adventure film. This would have been great as a stephen sommers movie.

I also didnt like that the monsters lacked a sense of scale for a lot of the film. Some shots were great, like the wider valley shots with kong, but the rest just didnt work.

oh and jacksons kong managed to emote a million times better than this one. How did we skip forward 10 years, and manage to do a worse job at animating.

aaallllllllllll in all though, i at least enjoyed the straight forward action, with virtually none of the soppy romance drama stuff that weighed down the original kongs. its a decent enough popcorn movie.
