Yes, a lot.

I almost didn't play this, because the initial moments were so slow and boring.

Once you get your car and are in free roam mode, it REALLY picks up.

It has a very nice story and it's just an all around cool game.

I got it with my humble monthly sub Smile

I didn't try this yet, so I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to dive into it... and man, I'm having a blast with it.

Yes it's repetitive, yes it has the same rehashed open world busywork gameplay for the most part, but damn, the setting, the wasteland, the on-foot combat and especially the car combat is extremely fun and outweighs any problems the whole thing has. And of course, because it's Mad fucking Max Smile
Focusing on the car upgrade was a really good idea, constantly upgrading your rig always had some form of noticable benefit and spiced up the gameplay a bit. Working towards that godly V8 engine and finally earning it, then just tearing through the wasteland with it was hugely satisfying Smile

My complaint is that the game had too many immersion breaking, gamified elements to it, but I guess this was just inevitable. Things like accessing your garage in the middle of nowhere, modifying your car even in the middle of combat, with parts magically appearing on it with one click.
Also, "unlocking" Max's physical combat skills with gathered scrap... How on earth are these two even come together.. I can understand that he makes knuckledusters or wristguards from junk, but how does he learn disarming an enemy out of nowhere from gathering x amount of scrap. C'mon.. Things like this work in a Just Cause game because it's a parody in itself, but in this setting these are just as immersion breaking as it can get. This also applies to Max's mental abilities: suddenly getting more water from sources, the car spends less fuel, etc... Yeah right..
Another complaint is that with all the upgrades Max just becomes an ultimate wasteland god.

But these are just smaller complaints and as I said the pros outweigh the cons and I really enjoyed this. During driving in the desert I was constantly wishing for a new Interstate '76 game with the same look, the way the combat works here would be really amazing in a modernized I'76...

If you've ever heard someone talking really fast on Youtube (Juicehead, who makes Fallout 4 Mod previews, stopped watching him because it got so annoying) you'll find ACG very very refreshing and chill.

Expected a higher pain threshold from someone listening to trap in regards to "annoying voices" Laughing Laughing

I get it though, he has this annoying rambling going on.
If he'd slow it down: the vid would only be 2 mins longer and more pleasant to listen to.

What are pleasant accents? Jiorman aaaksaaant? Svedish aaaksaaant? Rashan/polska akćent?
Most non-English speaking European accents are annoying as fuck.

Hah yeah, I can't speak much for other European countries but being Swedish and attempting to speak English well it does not sound very good at all and is usually very unclear or whatever the English term for "Grötigt" would be.

Not too sure how to explain better but very messy and well not just very clear or focused(?) sounding with pronunciation of the different words and such being very off or yeah well I suck at explanations but it does not sound good. (Stop speaking porridge! Razz )


Training can help a bit though, I suppose we're not too bothered by it here in Sweden what with Norway and Denmark and trying to understand those people, which I guess is just the same for them ha ha.
(Wonder if it's the same between the British, Scottish and Irish come to think of it, perhaps though then you have American, Canadian and Australian too.)




EDIT: As for the video and open world game design isn't this game basically follow the usual archetype there, almost completely barren but very big map but all zones are clearly marked or visible and there's little to nothing in-between these camps and what not and even most missions center around these and not the actual wilderness.

Where it's basically just you driving around until some enemy patrol just happen to spawn nearby and you get into some vehicular combat.
(Or being flung about as a ragdoll if you were dumb enough to try and travel on foot as everything is now ramming you.)

At least the games various zones are kept a bit varied and it's even possible to drive off into the big fucking nothing though as per the name there's fuck all in there until you hit the end of the world.
(A huge drop and then endless randomly generated flat terrain forever.)


EDIT: Oh yeah one of the developers put a Christmas three or something out there somewhere I think one of the Steam screenshots showed that off as some odd find though it might not have been precisely out in the "big nothing" void but a short bit before.
(Kinda hard to navigate what with the sand storms.)

Pleasant german-english accent:

i think it's also down to what kind of voice the person has, and how deep the accent is..

Not a fan of Australian accents (some seems deeper than others), Irish and Scottish accents can be quite annoying, but at the same time charming and rather amusing, but not for any extended period of time. Indian-english is of course hard to take seriously, it's "musical" but in a rather ridiculous way, but you probably get used to it.

If i have to choose, american english sounds best, unless it's women, they sound extremely sexy with deep english accents Very Happy

Nothing "pleasant" about that aaaksaaant, sorry. "Negatief"

I guess it comes down to what accents your ear is adjusted to. While I can't tolerate most accents in general (they just bother me - I have misophonia), some are a lot less annoying to me than others. A Scottish accent does not annoy me; I don't understand it, but I am not annoyed. Israeli/Arab accents annoy me a lot. A Japanese accent annoys me a lot less than non-English European accents. Etc.
I do prefer, in almost all situations that are not face to face, to have people speak in their native tongue.

i do hate swedish accents a lot, though norwegian ones are even worse.

I just had a lot of other stuff on my head for last year... like moving to new apartment, work, adult stuff and being lazy fuck Laughing
And I did played other games but not as much as I used to. I kinda needed rest from games for some time and probably still do and don't want to force myself to play when I am not in the mood.
So in short - I am getting older and just watch shit on youtube/twitch/giantbomb instead of playing myself.

But I am sparing myself games that I want to play(aside from big games that I play on release like Prey recently). I did that with Arkham Knight which was fantastic (god I loved it probably more than even asylum and batmobile was great) and I also spared this. It's fucking Mad Max. When fury road came out I went to the prepremiere screening of 1,2 and fury road throughout all night. Rewatched FR few times since then.

Well.. and I only got my new gpu for few months now. Not managed to play through my whole backlog with it yet and I spared some games for new gpu time.

edit: Well.. tho think about what I just said above... I actually had some time to play games. In last few months I've finished All Dark Souls games again, replayed Doom, Prey, Snake Pass(about 60%), Resident evil7, mentioned arkham knight, crimsonland, inside, crysis2 and some otehr stuff I don't remember right away. I also often play rogue like games like afterbirth, spelunky and dungeon of the endless... and I start up gta iv and FUEL every now and then.
Fuck... that's why I did not played Mad Max yet Laughing Not to mention tv shows and movies!
