And finished after ~23h on highest difficulty with Emily and High Chaos.

Not much to say, besides it was a very enjoyable game.

8.5/10

Now to wait till 15 September. Crying or Very sad

This is a beautifully designed game. It's a shame the engine is crap, it can look good on ultra settings but it runs like crap when it does.

Yeah the scenery and overall level design is great, fairly free and open on how you're allowed to proceed as well although it usually comes down to having a couple of different ways into the bigger and more open areas but players can still get pretty creative on how to avoid or confront encounters.

While not quite the same painted visuals as the first game I do really like the overall visual style.

Dunwall early on also lets the player experience the contrast to Karnaka with it's brighter and more colorful setting.

EDIT: When the game isn't stuttering or suffering from random framerate drops at least.

Going to be interesting to see how the expansion compares to the Brigmoor Witches episodes, those were also really good for the original game.

EDIT: Not sure how well Dishonored 2 or Prey sold though so Bethesda and Zenimax might perhaps want to put some pressure on Arkane to get more content out to try and get some profit that way, though I'm not sure what the sales expectations or targets were for either of these two games.

Shocked
The videos of that dude are so exceptional.
Even more so because he does all of those tricks without in one go without any videocuts or savegame reloads.

Don't judge it based on that video. Nobody else can do that but that one guy (and I'm pretty sure he's got unlimited mana on, as you can't use powers that quickly that often and not run out ).

Loved the first one. Never bothered finishing the second. Too much of the same, but not in a good way.

Nah, the AI does fine, the guy is just insanely good. He's also playing New Game + so he has all the abilities.

Agree with the first paragraph, disagree with the second.

The second game is far superior to the original, gameplay wise. You have more tools to play with (which, if you practice enough can get you doing some stuff remotely comparable to parts from that vid), especially for a non-lethal approach.
First game was what, sleep darts and choke people out? Here even if you're found out you can still knock people out.

Totally agree, i guess the game got a bad rap with the launch (which i thankfully missed), but its really a good game.

Yup, this is genuinly a great game, full of little gimmicks that are fun, creative and really change the pacing and the style of the game from level to level.
Speaking of levels, they are well designed, and full of things to do.
The voice acting is top notch, the interactions are clever.

The only real negative would be performances I guess, but I never had a single problem with my medium spec PC, so I don't know how bad it can get.

Like Bob, I'd give it a 8.5/10, eyes closed.

I just started this. I couldn't get into first game but decided to give this one a go anyway.
The performance is good and graphics are great. It's a bit less cartoony compared to first one and I like that.
The controls also are fluid and intuitive... aside from left/right mouse switch.. which are inversed from gun/sword position. Can those weapons be switched and gun be holstered?

I started playing as Corvo. What is the difference between him and Emily? Tutorial only gave basic controls which are the same for Corvo and Emily. I am not a stealth player... I am trying but always ending up derping and fighting the whole game. So I will want to play this one kinda like Dark Messiah if it's possible with only minimal/moderate stealth.

edit: I am getting good framerate at ultra 1080p and I do think the gsync is working but the game feels kinda "microstuttery" and never as smooth as other games. Looking around is kinda weird an stiff but I think that's just the engine.
edit2: and how to disable that ugly dirty screen effect. What the fuck

After two years spent in patient bear mode because of the shocking launch version I finally got around to playing through the sneaky adventures of Corvo Attano vol.II as well. And damn, it was worth it So Much Win

Many of the core problems that affect the pumped-up Void idtechmambo#5 hybrid and its inner choppiness will always be there (it's like putting a Ferrari engine inside a Bravo), but with the current Gabesteam version the micro-stuttering that made the "1.0" version of the game unplayable is no longer present and even a peasant rig like mine could maintain a relatively acceptable framerate - at High details, TAA+sharpening, vsync+triple buffering and RTSS' cap. There are several specific sections with a higher polygon count where the 60 frames get hammered no matter the settings, but still.

The atmosphere, lore and attention to detail throughout the levels are genuinely remarkable, the increased variety in terms of equipment/abilities/approaches is a plus (the two characters are essentially tailored to two different playstyles), and the AI is both competent and fully customizable, which is nice to have. All the locations are well-crafted, with the shapeshifting Clockwork Mansion and the time-manipulation-based A Crack in the Slab missions that truly stand out. Kudos to Arkane, it's rare to see such brilliant examples of level design in today's games, even the poor engine and its muddy visuals are saved by the inspired art style and distinct architectural porn.

The story isn't the strongest point here, though the narrative structure does its dirty job without being invasive or handhold-y, and that's always a positive as far as I'm concerned. I went with the usual slow-paced HUD-free full non-lethal panther route with a severe addiction to exploring every single corner and zero casualties, it took me ~40 hours (I had to occasionally reload the saves though since folks liked to just drown or randomly die on me for no reason). In the future I'll continue with Emily and her uberpowers like in an alternative The Darkness. 8 Bone(r) Charms and a half/10

cool ... NG+ and Black/White mode .... but the f*ckers wants you to login to their B.Net nonsense
Quote:
BONUS CONTENT
Logging in with your Bethesda.net account will get you the following new modes in both Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider:
### Mission+
Take a trip back in time to any previously completed mission from the campaign and experiment freely with all powers and weapons.
### Black and White
Feeling moody? Black and White mode lets you experience the game in a new visual style. This filter does exactly what it says on the tin, but all blood will remain red. See? Moody. You can toggle between Black and White mode and the original color mode at any time.

It's also bittersweet since I was reading some time ago that the franchise will not be returning anytime soon, the game underperformed and the Betheads are pulling the plug:

Quote:
"I can’t say definitively what might happen down the road, anything could happen, but [Dishonored] is resting for now," said Bare.

He claims that right now Arkane is mainly focused on developing "seamless multiplayer" and "environmental storytelling" for future unnamed projects that are not The Crossing.
